教学目标与核心素养:
1.认知并灵活运用本课时的重点单词steam, loose, sink, fault, resolve, strategy, signal, breath, concern 以及短语 help out, let down, let off steam, take a breath, pull one's weight, loose lips sink ships。
2.通过速读、精读等方式,引导学生由浅入深,逐层推进,加深对文章的理解,并掌握不同的阅读技巧和方法。通过对所设置题目的解答,让学生学会根据关键词提取重要信息,理清文章线索,并学会深层次分析问题,进行语言加工,提高归纳概括和推理判断的能力。
3.通过阅读文章,了解人际交往中的原则,学会通过交流、沟通,建立良好的人际关系。
教学重难点
教学重点:学习、掌握本课时的重点单词steam, loose, sink fault, resolve, strategy, signal, breath, concern以及短help out, let down, let off steam, take a breath, pull one weight, loose lips sink ships,并能在具体语境中灵活运用。
难点:
1.通过解决阅读阶段所设置的题目,学会分析问题解决问题,理清文章脉络,提高阅读水平。
2.通过阅读文章,了解人际交往中的原则,学会通过交流、沟通,建立良好的人际关系。

在读前活动中,教师引导学生思考自己在学校生活中可能遇到哪些问题,在遇到问题时能够向谁求助,旨在帮助学生提前熟悉课文话题,激活背景知识。
第一步:学生分组活动,列出在学校生活中遇到的问题,
总结出自己认为最难解决的问题,并给出原因。
第二步:请小组讨论在遇到问题时会向谁求助,引出课文中谈到的Agony Aunt。
第三步:组织学生汇报小组讨论结果,鼓励学生阐述理由。

背景信息
Agony Aunt
An agony aunt is a British advice columnist who gives advice to people who send in personal problems to the advice column of a newspaper or a magazine. The image presented was originally of an older woman offering comforting advice and maternal wisdom.
Nowadays, the advisor is not necessarily female.
It may turn out to be a male (Agony Uncle) or even a team. In American English, “advice columnist" is used.

Ben believed one of his teammates let down the whole team and told it to his best friend. But then his friend told everyone else what Ben had said. Now Ben is at a loss for what to do, and he turns to Agony Aunt for help.
