情态动词can
情态动词有一定的意义, 但无人称和数的形式上的变化; 通常后接不带to的动词不定式, 表示说话人的语气和情态。其否定式的构成是: 情态动词+not (cannot=can’t)。
请根据所给句子归纳can的用法。

(1) can表示能力(如体力和脑力方面),意为“能;会”等。
e.g. That big cinema can seat 2,000 people.

(2) 表示客观可能性,意为 “可以,可能”。

can的否定式为cannot,可缩写为can’t;含有can的一般疑问句是将can提到句首,其肯定回答为Yes, 主语+can.,否定回答为No, 主语+can’t。

一般疑问句 Can you swim
回答 Yes, I can. /No, I can’t.
肯定 He / She can speak English.
It can speak like a man.
否定 He / She cannot (can’t) speak English.

回答 Yes, he / she can. No, he / she can’t.

肯定 We can swim.

否定 We cannot (can’t) swim.

区别:
can能用来表示人或者事物的能力。
be able to只能用来表示人的能力。
e.g. I can get best score in every match.
我能在每次比赛中得最高分。
I’d love to be able to sing like you.
我要是能像你那样唱歌就好了。
相似点: can和be able to都表示“能力”。
e.g. Energy can move things. (只能用can)

特点:
