Dorothy said she was shocked by the coyote’s scaring behavior. “I would never guess that a coyote, you know, would come out during the day and especially with someone screaming and shouting at it. However, it still was not afraid,” Dorothy said. “It just kept coming to attack my little girl and our dog, you know, despite all the shouting. It was quite aggressive. I am afraid the other kids might be attacked in the future.”
Macy was taken to the ICU on Tuesday, and returned home on Thursday. She was still covered with wounds and weak. “The amazing support we have received from friends, family, neighbors and strangers is amazing,” Dorothy wrote on a page raising money for the little dog’s bills. “Her fever is gone and she’s got her appetite back. What an absolutely courageous dog!I am so very proud of her. She is a true fighter.” As of Thursday evening, many donors have given money to the Kwan family and their brave pet.
Dorothy said she was shocked by the coyote’s scaring behavior.
Macy was taken to the ICU on Tuesday, and returned home on Thursday.

W: OK, thank you.
Text 2
M: Adela, how can I improve my listening
W: Well, you should ask yourself: how often do you listen to English after class
M: Not often.
Text 3
M: Can I help you
W: Yes, I like that 50-dollar suitcase very much, but I can afford 35 dollars.
M: You must have been looking at the wrong price. 50 dollars was the original price, but this blue price card says it’s been reduced to 25 dollars.
Text 4
M: Should we go to a ball game this evening or would you rather eat in a restaurant and then see a movie
W: To tell you the truth, I can’t really go anywhere this evening, because I’m expecting an important phone call.
Text 5
W: Tom, it’s too cold. I’m freezing! It must be the wind that makes it so cold.
M: Me, too, Mary. Let’s go inside. OK
W: OK. It’s no fun standing out here, even if the sun is shining.
Text 6
M: Rose, do you know which two cities are the host cities of the 2022 Winter Olympics
W: Of course! They are Beijing and Zhangjiakou in China.
M: Yes. But do you know what the mascot of the 2022 Winter Olympics is
W: I’m not sure. But maybe a snowman
M: No. Its name is “Bing Dwen Dwen”. And it is a panda!
W: Oh! I really like pandas. Every time I go to China, I must go to the zoo to see the pandas.
M: Me, too. We can go and see them together sometime.
W: OK! I am looking forward to it!
Text 7
W: The soccer game is starting! Let’s watch it.
M: You go ahead. I need to finish my homework first.
W: Uh, Bill... School just e on, let’s watch the game. You can do the homework at home.
M: When I get home, I like to have some snacks first and then enjoy one of my hobbies.
W: What hobbies Do you still play the guitar
M: Yes, I do. I need to practice for at least one hour per day to keep up with my band. If I was always busy with homework, I would never have time for that. So, I have to find ways to do my homework before I get home!
Text 8
M: It’ll be Saturday tomorrow. What are you going to do
W: Nicholas and I are going to have a picnic on the hill. Would you like to go there with us
M: I’m sorry but I’m going to help my uncle do the farming on his farm. There is always too much work to do.
W: But you can’t do it at all. I never heard you mentioned farm work before.
M: It’s easy to learn to do the work. And my uncle can teach me, too. Besides, I enjoy working on
the farm. The air is fresh, and the flowers are sweet there. Everything is so beautiful.
W: It sounds wonderful. I hope to have a chance to do that. How will you go there
M: By bus. It will take me only an hour to get to the farm. I used to go there by bike with my father. But I will go there by bus by myself tomorrow.
W: Take care while you’re on the farm, or you’ll hurt yourself.
M: Thanks. I’ll be fine.
Text 9
W: Hey, George! Where are you heading
M: Hey, it's you, Mary. I just came back from an exhibition.
W: A what
M: An exhibition. To be exact, a fine art exhibition.
W: Really Is it good
M: Yeah, pretty good. There are portraits, oil paintings and watercolors. It's really amazing. Sometimes they can fool your eyes --- you have to look really close to see that's not a photo or something real.
W: What paintings do you like best
M: I would have to say the oil paintings. They're just so colorful and alive.
W: Yeah, that's one thing that I like about oil paintings. But I can't stand the traditional style. I find it so boring.
M: Yeah, I'm a little tired of that style, too. I'm crazy about art, and I wish that I were able to paint as well as these artists. You should go and have a look at this exhibition if you can afford a day.
W: Well, I was just thinking about what to do for the weekend. Now you've given me a good idea. I'm really looking forward to it!
M: Trust me, it's worthwhile and the ticket is not expensive.
W: OK. I've got to go and get a ticket now. See you.
