Skimming (略读)
Read the passage quickly to get the main idea.
How to skim:
Read the title and subtitle.
Read the introduction or the first paragraph.
Read the first sentence of every other paragraph.
Notice any pictures, charts or graphs.
Read the summary or last paragraph.

Scanning (扫读)
Have a question in your mind and read a passage only to find the answer, ignoring unrelated (不相关的) information.
How to scan:
