(Text 1)
M:Good morning. My name is James Turner. I have a meeting with Wayne Brown.
W: Oh, yes, Mr. Turner. Mr.Brown is expecting you. I’ll give him a call to tell you’re here.
(Text 2)
W: Hello, Paul. Let’s go fishing.
M: I don't want to fish. Nor do I want to swim. I'd like to play basketball now.
(Text 3)
W:I’m after a book by Patrick White. It doesn’t seem to be anywhere on the shelves.
M: Do you mean The Tree of Man It's been lent out.
W: Then I'll have to buy a copy.
(Text 4)
M: I have two tickets for a film tonight. Would you like to come
W: I'd love to, but I promised my mother I'd take my sister to a concert.
(Text 5)
W: Ned's apartment is so hot this summer. I don't know how he can stand it.
M: It's a little better now that he has got an air conditioner in it.
(Text 6)
M: Come in! Oh hello Susan, how are you getting on Are you feeling any better
W: Well, maybe a little better, but I still have a very painful headache. I was wondering if I could take a few days off.
M: I see. Well it's important that you get better. Hmmm, we have a big meeting this Friday, so I would definitely need you back and well hen.Well, it's Tuesday today so take the rest of today off and tomorrow as well. Hopefully, with plenty of rest we will see you back again by Thursday.
(Text 7)
M:Can I help you,madam
W:I think I'll just have a vegetable salad and a cup of lemon tea.
M:Is that all
W:Yes. I'm overweight, so I want a low-fat diet. My doctor said that my bean suffers a lot from my weight and I have to change my lifestyle and lose at least 30 pounds to keep it working properly.
M:Do you plan not to eat anything but vegetable salad
W:No. I can eat fruit and some beef, but most importantly, I should never eat anything containing sugar or any unhealthy food.
M:Then probably you won't try the delicious seafood served here.
W:That's true.
(Text 8)
M:Hi, Hannah. How are you
W:Fine thanks, John. And you
M:I'm excited. We're going on holiday to the Greek island on Friday this week.
W:Really It's surprising you'll go so soon. I remember on Monday you told me you would go there next Thursday. How are you getting there
M:We're flying to Athens. Then we'll catch a train to Piraeus and get on a beat to Greek island. Have you ever been to Greece
W:We went there last summer. It was wonderful. You've chosen a good tourist attraction. It is worth visiting.
M:That's great. Obviously you had a great time there. What do you think I should take with me
W:Have you bought a guidebook You can borrow mine if you want. We won't need it this year.
M:Thanks. That means I won't have to buy one. Would you like me to bring something back from Greece for you
W:No, thanks. Just send me a postcard.
(Text 9)
W:Good evening, Mr.Hunt. What is your question
M:I've been learning French for some years. I've learned quite a lot of grammar and words. But when I went to France this summer, I couldn't understand the French people at all. I've lost heart and even want to give it up.
W:It is a problem. How long have you been studying French
M:About four years.
W:How exactly Going to an evening class, using tapes
M:I've been going to an evening class and I've watched quite a lot of BBC television programs.
W:They're very good. Did you buy the BBC book
M:No, we use a different book in the class. But I watched the programs.
W:I see... Mr. Hunt. I always think that learning a language is rather like learning to drive. Now you couldn't learn to drive a car by siting in a classroom or watching television. I think what you need is a lot of practice in using the language.
Text (10)
M: On a weekend, my wife, son and I entered an eight-kilometer running race. Most people think of running races in city streets or by a lake in big parks, but in this race, all the runners ran on mountain roads.
When the race started, my son took off quickly, but my wife and I stayed back and ran together. At times we ran, and some parts we walked because the roads were hard to climb on. We just enjoyed talking together and looking at the scenery. During the last part of the race, I tripped on a rock and my foot hurt badly. But I didn't spend any time checking the injury. We kept running. However, after a while I realized that I missed my watch. So I encouraged my wife to go on ahead, and I went back to see if I could find it. After some time, I found my watch right off the road. I quickly put it into my pocket and hurried back. Once I was near the end, my son ran back to meet me.
As it turned out, my wife and son won first place in their age groups. As I sat down to check my foot, I found my sock was in blood. I didn't receive any place in my age group, but the race organizers gave me a special award, which is given to the most injured runner in the race.

I am pleased to tell you that an international marathon will take place in our city. I know you love sport and I'd like to invite you to run with me.
The activity will be held on January lst along the newly-built Zhongshan Road. It will start at 7:30 am and end at 11:30 am, lasting for four hours. Over five hundred people will take part in it. How nice! The marathon is not only an activity for exercising, but also for entertaining. I'm sure that we would have great fun. Besides, it's also a chance to make new friends with those who have the same interests as us.
It would be great if you could come, I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
第二节写作:
Paragraph1:
It was time to put an end to the Magic Marty show. Excited at the thought,I couldn't resist crying out, “It was fishing line!” Totally surprised at my abruptness, all the classmates including Marty had their attention fixed on me,waiting for an explanation. I pulled out the fishing line to reveal his secrets in front of the classmates. Marty lowered his head with a burning face. Having broken the first law of his proud magic,I was about to stalk off.
Paragraph 2:
“Wait!” Marty jumped in front of me. With lips trembling, he attempted to say something but in vain and tears were rolling in his eyes. It suddenly occurred to me what magic meant to him. My satisfaction vanished, turning into the shame of jealousy. To Marty, all he had done was merely to befriend more classmates. Out of guilt and regret, I explained my original intention and apologized. Only then did I appreciate never should jealousy gain the upper hand at any time.
