Four Best Things to Pack on a Cruise (游轮)
Packing for any trip takes some planning, but cruise vacations present a unique challenge. To help you decide what to bring, U. S. News has compiled this list of items to pack for your next cruise.
Packable hats
If you’re headed to the Caribbean or another warm-weather destination, you’ll want a hat to protect your face from the sun. This $30 packable straw hat is a stylish woman’s option that offers UPF 50 sun protection. Men can consider the Aussie packable hat for about $40. Also, you can fold it into your suitcase, so there’s no need to wear it on the plane.
Noise-canceling earbuds
The rolling waves of the ocean can be quite annoying while enjoying a restful night’s sleep. QuietOn 3 active noise-canceling earbuds block out snoring roommates and late-night partiers returning to their stateroom. They may also come in handy for an afternoon snooze. Purchase these earbuds (around $270) on the QuietOn website.
Magnetic hooks
A surprising fact: Cruise ship cabin walls are made of metal, which means you a optimize your storage space by hanging some of your belongings on magnetic wall hooks. The hooks are perfect for hanging up and drying out bathing suits after days at the beach or pool. Purchase a set of magnetic hooks for approximately $10 on Amazon.
Packing cubes
Packing cubes are one of the best ways to organize your clothing. You can keep your shirts, pants and sweaters separate so it’s easy to find what you need. Amazon has a wide section of packing cubes to choose from, in plenty of different colors, designs and sizes, with most options ranging from $15 to $25. Crew members of China’s Shenzhou XIII mission are scheduled to give a space-based lecture on Thursday afternoon from the orbiting Tiangong space station to students around the world, according to the China Manned Space Agency.
The agency said on Monday that the three astronauts-Major General Zhai Zhigang, Senior Colonel Wang Yaping and Senior Colonel Ye Guangfu—will begin the first lecture of the Tiangong Class, or Heavenly Palace Class, at 3:40 pm Thursday. The lecture will be broadcast live to audiences around the globe. The astronauts will show viewers how they live and work inside the station and then conduct some scientific experiments to show students how gravity works differently in space. They will also answer viewers’ questions at the end of the live-stream event, the agency said.
Groups of students in Beijing, Nanning in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and Wenchuan in Sichuan province, as well as the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions, will take part in video communications during the lecture.

Almost 80 percent of primary and secondary school students had the opportunity to get more nightly sleep this semester, after education authorities took measures to reduce their academic workload, the Ministry of Education said on Wednesday.
Lyu Yugang, director of the ministry’s department of basic education, said 77.14 million parents were surveyed to make sure whether their children were getting enough sleep.
Schools and parents have also paid more attention to students’ sleep time, with 98.7 percent of schools asking parents to monitor their children’s sleep and study time.
In April, the ministry advised that primary school students should go to bed before 9:20 pm, middle school students before 10 pm and high school students before 11 pm. Students should go to bed at the recommended times, even if they have not finished their homework. Schools should control the amount of homework assigned to students to make sure primary school students can finish all their written homework at school and secondary school students can finish most of their homework on campus. Students in primary and secondary are prevented from bringing smartphones to class, the ministry said. Almost all schools no longer assign homework via smartphones and students do not need to finish their homework digitally, he added.
“Homework, after-school tutoring courses and online games should all take second place to ensure students can get enough sleep. And in fact, from our survey, many parents hold a positive attitude towards these.” Lyu said.
Zhang Xiu, mother of a primary school student in Beijing, said “Thanks to this, my daughter can sleep more than nine hours a night, as the school has reduced the amount of her homework. I believe a healthy body is more important than academic achievement.”
While tough measures have been taken to limit the amount of time young students can spend playing online games to three hours a week, the students might waste time on short video platforms and parents need to act to stop this, Lyu added.
32. Which of the measures can help young students get enough nightly sleep
A. Force young students to go to bed before 9:20 pm.
B. Control the amount of homework assigned to students.
C. Prevent students from bringing smartphones to class.
D. Forbid teachers from assigning homework digitally.
33. Why are Zhang Xiu’s remarks quoted in the passage
A. To support Lyu’s viewpoint. B. To state the facts.
C. To describe the situation. D. To draw a conclusion.
34. In the fifth paragraph, “take second place” can be replaced by “_________”.
A. be totally banned B. be less important C. happen for the second time D. be far superior
35. What can be inferred from the last paragraph
A. The present measures against online games are not tough enough.
B. Young students can only spend three hours a week on online games.
C. Students themselves cannot control their time spent on short videos.
D. Short video apps are definitely more attractive than online games.

Establishing cell phone rules for teens can be a little tricky. Without clear guidelines, many teens struggle to handle the responsibility of owning a smartphone. 36
Follow School Rules
37 Investigate the policy at your child school and make it clear that you expect them to follow the school’s rules. If your teen gets in trouble at school for breaking cell phone rules, support the school’s discipline policy. Your teen also needs to learn to honor the cell phone policy of future employers or college professors. It’s an important life lesson.
No Cell Phones during Family Time
Make it clear that during family activities, cell phone use is prohibited. 38 Whether you’re visiting with extended family, you’re playing a game of catch or you’re having dinner with your parents, discourage bad cell phone habits, like ignoring family members to text someone who isn’t present.
39
Replying to text messages or keeping up with social media can be a huge distraction for teens who are trying to study. Set limits on cellphone use during homework time, especially if your teen’s grades are suffering.
No Cell Phone Use Overnight
Teens who keep their phones in their rooms at night are likely to respond to text messages or social media updates in the middle of the night, which affects their sleep. Establish a rule that clearly states what time the phone must be turned off in the evening. 40
A. No Cell Phone at the Dinner Table
B. No Cell Phone during Homework Time
C. Each school makes its own cellphone policies.
D. Teach your child some appropriate cell phone skills.
E. Stress the importance of interacting with one another in person.
F. Then, charge the phone in a comm area of the home, such as in the kitchen.
G. So it’s important to establish rules that will help your teen make healthy choices.

Memories of running, splashing happily so carefree as a child came pouring in as a welcome relief from the worries of my day.
Then came the little angel. She must have been 6 years old, this beautiful brown haired, freckle-faced image of innocence. Her voice was so sweet that it broke the sleepy atmosphere we were all caught in. “Mom, let’s run through the rain.” she said.
“What No, honey. We’ll wait until it slows down a bit. Otherwise we’ll get wet.” Mom replied.
“No, we won’t, Mom. That’s not what you said this morning,” the young girl said as she pulled at her Mom’s arm.

Good evening, everyone. In tonight’s program, let’s get to know an inspiring blind Chinese man named Zhang Hong. He has climbed onto the tallest peak in the world from the southern side. He became the first blind man in Asia and the third in the world to climb Mount Qomolangma. The man completed the 8,849 meter-high Himalayan achievement on May 24, 2021 along with three guides. And then he returned to the base camp three days later. Zhang was born in southwestern Chinese city of Chongqing. He lost his sight at the age of 21 due to some kind of disease. He was inspired by Erik Weihenmayer, a blind American mountaineer who climbed onto the tallest peak of Qomolangma in 2001. Zhang began training under the guidance of a mountain guide friend. He was still very scared while climbing. Because he couldn’t see where he was walking, and he couldn’t find his center of gravity, so sometimes he could fall. Zhang said, “I kept thinking even though it was hard, I had to face those difficulties and dangers.
