Contents Today, I’m going to talk about Part A of Unit 4 My Home , PEP primary English ,Book 3 .This lesson includes two parts: Let’s learn and Let’s do. In section 1, it mainly deals with the 5 important new words: study; living room; bathroom; bedroom and kitchen. Meanwhile, it leads to the Ss how to introduce their home. And in section 2, it provides Ss a real situation to practice and consolidate the new words by TPR.II. Teaching aims1. Aims on the knowledge
(1) To enable Ss to listen, speak and read the new words: study; living room; bathroom; bedroom and kitchen. Make sure the Ss can use these words in real situations.
(2) To enable Ss to understand the sentence: This is my home. And let Ss use the sentences to introduce their home simply. II. Teaching aims2. Aims on the abilities
(1) To develop Ss’ abilities of listening and speaking.
(2) To train Ss’ abilities of working in groups.
(3) To foster Ss’ abilities of communication and their innovation. II. Teaching aims3. Aims on the emotion
(1) To foster Ss’ consciousness of good co-operation and proper competition.
(2) To lead Ss to keep tidy at home.III. Key points(1) To help Ss grasp the pronunciation of the new words correctly.
(2) To enable Ss to study in groups and co-operate skillfully.
(3) To develop Ss interest in English.IV. Difficult points(1) To help Ss ask and answer the questions: What’s this? What are they? And make sure they can use the plural nouns correctly.
(2) To finish the tasks by themselves.V. Teaching aids Multi-media computer; PPT; word cards and the related drawings will be needed to help me achieve the teaching aims.VI. Teaching methods The task-based method, communicated method, group cooperate method will be used in this lesson. I’ll also arrange some activities: singing; having a competition and finishing a task to help Ss grasp the key points and overcome the difficult points.VII. Step 1.Warm-up
Sing the song together: ABC
Purpose: It is important to form a better English learning surrounding for the Ss by singing an English song and at the same time it can help Ss review the 26 English letters.VII. Teaching procedures and purpose of my designing Step2. Let’s learn
(1) With the help of the CAI to present and teach the new words one by one, by showing the related pictures. Let Ss pay a lot of attention to the pronunciation of the new words, especially the words: living room /v/, bathroom ['ba:θrum]?by observation and imitation.
(2) Have a competition. Divide the Ss into four groups and let them repeat the new words on the word cards well.
Purpose: CAI can provide vivid pictures and a real situation for the Ss to understand the new words quickly. Meanwhile, Ss’ attention can be attracted a lot by the active and vivid pictures. Moreover, according to the physiology of the Ss, a group competition is a good way to learn the new knowledge. VII. Teaching procedures and purpose of my designing Step3. Listening & Practice
(1) Play the tape of let’s learn. Let the Ss listen and imitate the words and dialogue.
(2) With the help of the CAI to let the Ss ask and answer the sentences: What’s this? / It’s a …/ What are they? / They are… And enable the Ss to practice the new words and their plural forms.
(3) To teach the Ss how to introduce the rooms with the help of the drawings.
(4) Let the Ss describe their rooms in groups. Let the Ss cooperate with others and help each other.
Purpose: It’s useful to stimulate the Ss’ learning interests and help them consolidate the new words and sentences by arranging some activities.What’s this?It’s aliving room.What are they?They are twobedrooms.VII. Teaching procedures and purpose of my designing Step4. Let’s do
(1) Let the Ss listen to the tape of let’s do. Meanwhile I’ll do the related actions to let Ss understand the phrases: take a shower, have a sleep.
(2) Let the Ss do the actions according to T’s instructions.
Purpose: TPR teaching method is used here to arouse students' learning enthusiasm and initiative greatly. It also can easily reach the climax of the English learning.Step4 Let’s doVII. Teaching procedures and purpose of my designingStep5. Task time
Here，a rental ad is displayed by PPT. In this ad, the Ss are needed to finish the blanks about the rooms. I’ll also divided them into 4 groups and encourage the Ss to finish the task as quickly as possible. Find out which group finishes faster.
Purpose: Task-based teaching method is used here to develop the Ss’ abilities of communication and cooperation. When the Ss are carting out the tasks, they can acquire information, knowledge, and have their ability and skills trained.
