(Part C)Story time教案
1. Analysis of the teaching material
The content of this lesson is PEP Primary English Book2 Unit 2 Part C Story time. It’s the last lesson in unit 2 which focuses on the topic of family members. The story is closely connected to the content of this unit and through it the students can have a review of what they have learned in previous lessons. As a story lesson it is helpful to raise Ss’ interests in English learning . It can also help Ss to attain “four skills” request of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
2. Analysis of the students
Ss in Grade 3 are active and interested in English. After learned English for one semester they have mastered basic knowledge and skills in English learning. As they have learned the words and sentences in Part A and B, most of the Ss can learn the story easily. But some of them can’t focus their attention on learning for a long time. So I designed different activities to attract their attention.
3. Teaching aims
Knowledge aims:
Ss can understand the story with the help of the video.
Ss can master the new words and new sentences in three skills
of listening, speaking and reading.
Ss can read and act out the story with correct pronunciation and
proper intonation.
Ability aims:
(1) To develop Ss’ abilities of listening and speaking.
(2) To train the Ss’ ability of communication.
Emotional aims:
(1)To foster Ss’ awareness of cooperation and proper competition.
(2)To arouse Ss’ love for their parents.
(3)Ss can praise others appropriately in daily life.
4. Key and difficult points
Key points:
(1) To make sure that Ss can understand the story and read it fluently.
(2) Ss can master the new words and sentences in three skills of listening, speaking and reading.
Difficult points:
Act out the story with correct pronunciation and proper intonation.
Learn to praise others in real situations.
5. Teaching procedures
Step1 Warming up
(1) Greetings.
(2) Let’s chant.
(3) Group the Ss into two groups.
4. I can read: Have a review of the words in unit 2.
Purpose: To form a better English learning surrounding for the Ss, meanwhile, Ss can review the knowledge they have learned in this unit. What’s more, proper competition can arouse Ss’ interest in English learning.
Step 2 Presentation
Watch the video and answer the questions.
See the pictures one by one and learn the new words.
(3) Listen and imitate the recording. Then read the story in different ways to remember the content in the story.
(4) Role play. The pupils play the roles in the story.
Purpose: To cultivate pupils’ basic abilities of their listening speaking and reading. Role-play can help the pupils to use the language in real situations. Group cooperation can develop their team spirit.
Step 3 Consolidation
A happy English talk show.
(1) T shows a picture, and talk about it with a student.
(2) T and Ss read the dialogue.
(3) Ss talk about their pictures.
Purpose: To help the pupils to use the expressions they learned in this lesson in real situations.
Step 4 Extend
A happy sound English slogan: Father and mother, I love you!
Purpose: To arouse the pupils’ love for their parents.
Step 5 Exercise
1. Read and match.
2. Multiple choice.
(The pupils do the exercises on their papers. Then check the answer together.)
Purpose: To have a check if they have mastered the content and help them to use the new words and patterns in real situations.
Step 6 Summing up
(1) Sum up the content in this lesson and the winner in this class.
(2) Homework:
a. Act out the story with your friends.
b. Do one thing for your parents to show your love.
(3) A happy enjoyable English song: I love my family.
Purpose: To cultivate pupils’ abilities of summarizing and have them experience the joy of learning English.
