ⅠThe analysis of the material and students
The analysis of the material
There are 6 units in this book. The topic of Unit 3 is about animals, which is helpful to raise their learning interest. This lesson is the fifth period of Unit 3. From this lesson, students will learn some words which describe animals. In the first term of Grade 3, Ss learned some words about animals and this is a further study for description. Ss will learn to talk about the appearance of friends in Grade 4 and the characters of their teachers in Grade 5. So this lesson plays a role in consolidation and foundation. Therefore it is an important part of the teaching material.
The analysis of students
Our students are in Grade 3. They are active, curious, and interested in new things. After learning English for one term, they have some basic English background knowledge, and in last term they learned some words about animals. So the teacher should help them learn the new content by reviews and attach importance to the communication with them, providing them the chances of using language.
