Do you know the places
Oxford is a city in south central England and the county town of Oxfordshire(牛津郡). With an estimated 2016 population of 170,350, it is the 52nd largest city in the United Kingdom, and one of the fastest growing and most ethnically(人种上) diverse. The city is 51 miles (82 km) from London. The city is known worldwide as the home of the University of Oxford, the oldest university in the English-speaking world.
Oxford is known as the “city of dreaming spires”(梦幻尖塔之城), a term coined by poet Matthew Arnold. Oxford has a broad economic base. Its industries include motor manufacturing, education, publishing and a large number of information technology and science-based businesses, some being academic offshoots.
Grenoble
Grenoble is a city in southeastern France, at the foot of the French Alps(阿尔卑斯山). Grenoble is an important European scientific centre. The city advertises itself as the “Capital of the Alps”, due to its size and its proximity(贴近) to the mountains. Grenoble's history goes back over 2,000 years, to a time when it was a small Gallic(法国的) village.
The city has grown to be one of Europe's most important research, technology, and innovation centers, with each fifth inhabitant working directly in these domains. The population of the city of Grenoble was 160,215 at the 2013 census(人口普查).
