The Silk Road was a network (网络)of trade routes (贸易路线)connecting the East and the West in ancient(古代的) and Medieval times(中世纪).
The Silk Road gets its name from the Chinese silk trade along it during the Han Dynasty.

China's porcelin(瓷器), silk and lacquer-ware(漆器) went westward and wools, gold and silver went east.

chance的常见搭配:

send v. 送;发送;邮寄 过去式和过去分词为:sent
send 后可接双宾语:“send sb. sth.”, sth. (某物)为直接宾语,sb.(某人)为间接宾语。
send sb. sth.= send sth.to sb. 意为“寄(送)给某人某物”。
【例句】 I want to send my mother a letter.
=I want to send a letter to my mother.
我想给我的妈妈寄一封信。
当间接宾语sb.为代词时,需要用其宾格形式。
【例句】 I sent him an e mail. 我给他发了一封邮件。
【拓展】
与send用法类似,可以接双宾语的动词还有give, show, pass, lend, tell等。
e.g. Show me your tickets, please. = Show your tickets to me,
please.请出示你们的票。
news n. 新闻,消息
news为不可数名词,“一则新闻”应表达为a piece of news,“两则新闻”为two pieces of news。
【例句】
1. No news is good news.
没有消息就是好消息。
2. Mary has two pieces of news to tell us.
Mary有两个消息要告诉我们。
7. Is the Silk Road made of silk (教材P2)
be made of的意思是“由......制成”。
【例句】
1. Books are made of paper. 书是由纸制成的。
2. The desk is made of wood. 这张桌子是木制的。
be made of 指从所制成的物品中能看出原材料,即原材料只发生了物理变化。 The beautiful flowers are made of plastic.
这些美丽的花是由塑料制成的。
be made from 指从所制成的物品中看不出原材料,或者说是原材料发生了化学变化。 Wine is made from grapes.
