Xi’an is the capital city(省会城市) of Shanxi province. It is one of the oldest cities in China. It is also the starting point of the Silk Road.

Terra Cotta Warriors is known as the eighth wonder of the world. It is now a museum to display(展示)the terra cotta warriors and horses which were made in Qin Dynasty(秦朝). Qin terra cotta warriors have guarded the tomb of Qin Shi Huang for over 2,000 years.

Xi’an — the Walled City
Welcome to Xi’an—the Walled City.
You can walk along the wall in the Walled City. It is about 12 kilometres long and over 600 years old. You can climb up the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. It is over 1 300 years old.
You can hit the ancient drum in the Drum Tower. You can also ring the ancient bell in the Bell Tower.
You can visit the famous Terra Cotta Warriors. They are over
2 000 years old!
Eat delicious Chinese food and enjoy the special dishes of Xi’an.
Xi’an has a long history. You will have a lot of fun here in this ancient city!

The Terra Cotta Warriors
Tour Guide: Welcome to the Terra Cotta Warriors. We call them
Bing Ma Yong in Chinese. This is an ancient place. Let’s go to
the first pit! Can you see the Terra Cotta Warriors They are
standing beside their horses.
Danny: Wow! I want to sit on one of the horses!
Tour Guide: No, no! You cannot do that. Please stand here with me
and move with me. OK?
Danny: OK. But I am really excited!
Jenny: This is wonderful! May I take photos here?

4. Why did people build the Drum Tower and the Bell Tower
What is special about the Wild Goose Pagoda Search the
Internet and find out more about these and other places in Xi’an.
The Drum Tower stands 500 metres to the northwest of the Bell Tower. There used to be a huge drum in the tower, which was used to tell the time at dark, and that is how the tower got its present name. Besides marking the time, the drum was also used to give warnings to people in times of war.
A huge bell in the tower house was used to strike the time every morning. This is how the tower got its name.
As the symbol of Xi’an, the Wild Goose Pagoda is a
well-preserved ancient building and a holy place for Buddhists.
A watch tower and Huaqing Pool are in Xi’an, too.

have fun的意思是“玩得高兴”,意思相当于have a good / great time或enjoy oneself。其中fun为不可数名词,意为“娱乐;乐趣”。

have fun (in) doing sth. 做某事很开心,其中in可以省略。

“one of + the + 复数名词”的意思是“......之一”,该结构作主语时谓语动词用单数形式。

9. Please stand here with me and move with me. (教材P6)
这是一个祈使句。祈使句常以动词原形开头, 句首加please(请)表示礼貌, please也可放在祈使句句末, 其前加逗号。祈使句的否定形式是在动词原形前加don’t。
【例句】
Close the door please. 请关门。
Please don’t speak loudly. 请不要大声喧哗。
move v. 移动; 搬动, 其名词为movement, 形容词为moved
move的常见搭配:
move in 搬入
move to ( spl.) 搬到(某地)
move out 搬出, 搬走

10. Look at the sign, “No photos!” (教材P6)
No photos! 禁止拍照!
no + 动名词或名词表示“禁止做某事”,常用于公共场合,提醒人们注意。
no的意思是“不准;不许”。在这种告示语中不用主语,也不用be动词。
【例句】
No parking!
禁止停车!(相当于“Don’t park the cars!”)
No swimming!
禁止游泳!(相当于“Don’t swim!”)
什么是情态动词?
情态动词是动词的一种,它本身具有词义。情态动词需要与动词原形及其被动语态一起使用,给谓语动词增添情态色彩,表示说话人对某一动作或状态的态度。
情态动词没有人称和数的变化,也没有不定式、分词等形式。常见的情态动词有can, may, must, should, will等。
情态动词can的用法
1. can表示能力,并且这个能力一般指智力或体力上的能力,例如:
I can speak English. 我会说英语。
What sports can you play 你会什么运动?
2. can表示许可,例如:
You can have a piece of cake. 你可以吃一块蛋糕。
Students can play basketball after school. 学生们可以在放学之后打篮球。
3. can表示请求,例如:
Can I use your pen 我能用你的钢笔吗?
Can you help me with my math 你能帮助我学数学吗?
4. 在疑问句和否定句中can表示“可能性”或“怀疑”,例如:
Can this notebook be Mike’s 这个笔记本是Mike的吗?
Your sister can’t be touring Nanjing. I saw her just now.
你的姐妹不可能在南京旅游。我刚才还看见她了。
情态动词can的句型
肯定句:主语 + can + 动词原形 + 其他
Tommy can play the violin and draw pictures.
Tommy会拉小提琴还会画画。
否定句:主语 + cannot / can’t + 动词原形 + 其他
She can’t swim. 她不会游泳。
一般疑问句:Can + 主语 + 动词原形 + 其他?
—Can I use your bike, Jake Jake我能借用你的自行车吗?
—Yes, you can. 可以,你能借。/ No, you can't. 不行,你不能借。
特殊疑问句:特殊疑问词 + can + 主语 + 动词原形 + 其他?
