Antarctic Challenge
In 1996, author and mountain climber Jon Krakauer attempted to climb Mount Qomolangma. While he was successful in his climb, the mountain was hit by bad weather that day, and eight other climbers – some of his good friends –were killed. Less than a year later, Krakauer and five other men attempted to climb Mount Rakekniven in Antarctica.
