Ladies and Gentlemen, It’s my great pleasure to be here sharing my teaching design with you.
The teaching content is Part A Let’s try,?Let’s talk of Unit 4, Book 5. First ,let me talk about the teaching material.
Part 1 Teaching Material
Firstly, let’s focus on the analysis of teaching content.
By study of this lesson, the Ss know how to ask the ability of doing the housework with simple words and sentences. The sentence patterns of this lesson “Are you helpful at home?” ?“What can you do? I can…”“You’re helpful.”are the key and difficult points of this lesson.
So, I set the following aims.
1.Knowledge aims
a)The Ss can hear, read, and use the main sentence patterns “Are you helpful at home?” ?“What can you do? I can…”“You’re helpful.”
b)The Ss can understand and read the conversation of the lesson.
2. Ability aims
a)The Ss can use the sentence pattern ,develop their language ability of hearing and saying “What can you do? I can…”
b)The Ss can use the patterns to express their thoughts in the proper scene.
3.Emotion aims
a)By completing the task,the Ss increase their interest and set up self-confidence in language study;
b)Teach the Ss to love labour and “A helpful man is always happy!”
Next,the key points of this lesson:
The Ss study and use the sentence patterns“Are you helpful at home?” ?“What can you do? I can…”“You’re helpful.” to develop Ss’ interest in English.
Difficult points:
The Ss can use the sentence patterns “Are you helpful at home?”in the proper scene correctly, and make simple dialogues.
Part 2 Students Analysis
Secondly, it is about the students. Our students are in Grade 5 .They are active and curious, interested in new things.After learning English for 2 years, they have some basic English background knowledge, so the teacher should attach importance to the communication with them, providing them the chances of using language.
Part 3 Teaching Methods
Thirdly, let’s talk about teaching methods. In this lesson, I will mainly use “Task-based teaching method”, “Communicative language teaching method” and “TPR teaching method”, and so on.
Part 4 Teaching Process
In order to realize the teaching process systematically, properly and efficiently, under the principle of “regard Ss as the corpus, the teacher inspires for predominance”, I divide the teaching process into four steps.
Step1 Warm-up.
After greeting the class, I will lead the students to listen to the tape and rap rhythmically. The content is Let 's chant of Start part. It’s to form a better English learning surrounding for the Ss.
Then,the Ss will play a game Guess verbs from the letters.From the game,the Ss review the verbs and phrases they have learnt.It’s a good base pad for next learning.
Step2 Presentation
Now,let’s deal with the frist teaching content namely Let’s try. The students listen to the recording and tick. Then complete the listening exercise in this lesson.
With the help of the PPT, the Ss will meet two cartoon figures Xiao Wanzi and Xiao Xin.They will say some words and the Ss judge Who is helpful, Xiao Wanzi or Xiao Xin?Then sing a new song Are You Helpful? In this course, Ss can understand the main contents of this lesson and get the key points easily.
Next,the Ss will play a game with me. High salary hire housekeeper. In the game,I am a housewife,and I need a housekeeper.The Ss act candidates.I will ask them some questions such as Are you helpful at home? What can you do? It creates the conditions of a relaxed and natural atmosphere for children’s drills. Then achieve the aim of consolidating and deepening the sentence patterns.
Then let’s present the text. I will play the recording completely, have the Ss concentrate on listening, then fill in the blanks.
After be familiar with the dialogue, the Ss perform in pairs.Then they try to make new dialogues according to the actual situation.
By this step, it achieved the teaching aim of understanding and talking the conversation of this lesson.
Step3 Practice
In advance, let’s talk about the Ss’ good friends Xi Yangyang and Lan Yangyang. The CAI presents sitcom Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf. Through the role playing ,guide the Ss to use the words and patterns learnt. This design is a novelty of my lesson. They may have mutual improvement in exchanging information during the communicating activities.
Most Ss can take their parts in the activities, especially for the Ss who have trouble in English study. In the group activities, they can speak a little English with ease. With no doubt, this will encourage them to speak English. In fact, it incarnates a kind of demand of human being. Suhuomulinsiji says:
“In one’s mind, there is always a kind of deeply rooted demand, that is the hope to feel oneself a finder and explorer. In Ss’ spirits, such demand is specially strong.”
Step4 Consolidation and Extension
Summarize the whole lesson,and arrange the homework.

Part 5 Blackboard Design
