A
Fifteen years ago, I took a summer vacation in Lecce in southern Italy. After climbing up a hill for a panoramic(全景的) of the blue sea, white buildings and green olive trees, I paused to catch my breath and then positioned myself to take the best photo of this panorama.
Unfortunately, just as I took out my camera, a woman approached from behind, and planted herself right in front of my view. Like me, this woman was here to stop, sigh and appreciate the view.
Patient as I was, after about 15 minutes, my camera scanning the sun and reviewing the shot I would eventually take, I grew frustrated. Was it too much to ask her to move so I could take just one picture of the landscape Sure, I could have asked her, but something prevented me from doing so. She seemed so content in her observation. I didn’t want to mess with that.
Another 15 minutes passed and I grew bored. The woman was still there. I decided to take the photo anyway. And now when I look at it, I think her presence in the photo is what makes the image interesting. The landscape, beautiful on its own, somehow comes to life and breathes because this woman is engaging with it.
This photo, with the unique beauty that unfolded before me and that woman who “ruined” it, now hangs on a wall in my bedroom. What would she think if she knew that her figure is captured and frozen on some stranger’s bedroom wall A bedroom, after all, is a very private space, in which some woman I don’t even know has been immortalized. In some ways, she lives in my house.
Perhaps we all live in each other’s spaces. Perhaps this is what photos are for: to remind us that we all appreciate beauty, that we all share a common desire for pleasure, for connection, for something that is greater than us.
That photo is a reminder, a captured moment, an unspoken conversation between two women, separated only by a thin square of glass.
1 What happened when the author was about to take a photo
A. Her camera stopped working. B. A woman blocked her view.
C. Someone asked her to leave. D. A friend approached from behind.
2. In the author’s opinion, what makes the photo so alive
A. The rich color of the landscape. B. The perfect positioning of the camera.
C. The woman’s existence in the photo. D. The soft sunlight that summer day.
3. The passage can be seen as the author’s reflections upon ________.
A. a particular life experience B. the pleasure of traveling
C. the art of photography D. a lost friendship
【答案】1. B 2. C 3. A

Russia has a history of beating the U.S. into space, and along with being the first to send a dog, man, and woman into space, they just became the fist nation to send an actress an film crew up there.
Scheduled for two weeks of filming aboard the International Space Station (SS), actress Yulia Peresild and director Klim Shipenko became the first humans to film part of a full-length film in space, beating out poor old Tom Cruise, who since 2020 had made his intentions to film a movie aboard the ISS clear enough to NASA.
The Challenge will be a big-budget Russian film based on the story of a top surgeon (Peresild) who is called upon to enter the Russian-module of the ISS for an emergency procedure. While many films certainly feature space, it will be the first full-length fiction to be filmed on the ISS.
A Soyuz rocket departed the Earth at 4:5S a.m.on October 5th,and arrived three hours later carrying Ms. Peresild, Mr. Shipenko and their experienced astronautical guide, Anton Shkaplerov. “It is almost impossible to believe that this ll came to reality,” said Peresild, opening the hatch (舱门) and floating into the space laboratory. The pair will gather around 35 minutes of footage (画面) before departing on the 17th of October, leaving Shkaplerov behind to work.
In September 2020 it was announced that Cruise and Director Doug Liman had booked a flight on a SpaceX rocket headed for the ISS in October 2021. Ever eager for a space-race, Russian Channel One and a film studio called Yellow, Black, and White jointly announced with the Russian space agency Roscosmos their own plans for a space movie.
While Peresild and Shipenko will be set to come down soon, Cruise’s October launch plans are still up in the air. If Tom Cruise needs a bright side to look on, it’s that the last time Russia and the U.S. had a first-to space race, Russia got into space first, but the U.S. got to the Moon.
4. What is the main idea of the passage
A. Russia will control the ISS instead of NASA.
B. Russia has a long history of sending humans into space.
C. Russia became the number one in space travel.
D. Russia won the competition against America to film in space.
5. What can we learn about the space ravel
A. The rocket arrived before 7 a.m. on October 5th.
B. Anton Shkaplerov is an experienced tourist guide.
C. Peresild refused to admit the dream could come true.
D. Peresild and Shipenko stayed in space for about 12 days.
6. What does the underlined phrase “up in the air” mean in the last paragraph
A. Announced. B. Unsettled. C. Excited. D. Checked.
【答案】4. D 5. D 6. B
【解析】
【分析】这是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了俄罗斯成为世界上首个登上太空拍摄电影的国家。
【详解】1.主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段“Russia has a history of beating the U.S. into space, and along with being the first to send a dog, man, and woman into space, they just became the fist nation to send an actress an film crew up there.”(俄罗斯有着击败美国进入太空的历史,它是第一个把狗,男人和女人送入太空的国家,刚刚俄罗斯成为第一个把女演员送上太空的国家。)可知,本文主要讲了俄罗斯战胜美国,率先登上太空,在太空拍电影,故选D。
2.推理判断题。根据第四段中的“A Soyuz rocket departed the Earth at 4:5S a.m.on October 5th,and arrived three hours later carrying Ms. Peresild, Mr. Shipenko and their experienced astronautical guide, Anton Shkaplerov.”(联盟号火箭于10月5日凌晨4点5分离开地球,三小时后抵达太空,载有Peresild女士,Shipenko先生和他们经验丰富的航天导航员Anton Shkaplerov。)和“The pair will gather around 35 minutes of footage (画面) before departing on the 17th of October, leaving Shkaplerov behind to work.”(在10月17日离开之前,他们会收集35分钟的录像,留下Shkaplerov继续工作。)可知,Peresild和Shipenko在太空中待了大约12天,故选D。
3.词句猜测题。根据最后一段“While Peresild and Shipenko will be set to come down soon, Cruise’s October launch plans are still up in the air.”(虽然Peresild和Shipenko将很快降落,但克鲁斯10月的发射计划仍 up in the air)中while(虽然)可以,上下文有转折对比关系,俄罗斯派去太空拍摄电影的演员Peresild和Shipenko已经快返回地球了,但Cruise打算十月份登上太空的计划仍然up in the air,由此推知,画线短语“up in the air”表示“悬而未决”,与“Unsettled”语意相近,故选B。

British researchers say they have created an artificial intelligence (AI) model that is highly effective at predicting rainfall within the next 90 minutes.
The model was built by scientists at Google-owned research company DeepMind in London. The company partnered with researchers at the University of Exeter in Britain and the Met Office, the British government’s national weather service. The team says tests of the system showed it produced more accurate predictions, or forecasts, for short-term rainfall than other existing systems.
Accurate nowcasting can be a very important tool for preparing for possible weather emergencies. It can be used by officials in the areas of water management, agriculture, air and ground traffic control and outdoor event planning. “We were especially interested in the ability of these models to make predictions on medium to heavy-rain events, which are the events that most impact people and the economy,” the team said. The scientists said their model aims to create predictive “movies” of immediate weather patterns. They said that, unlike other systems, theirs can accurately capture large-scale events, as well as several different rain possibilities. This combination permits “rainfall uncertainties” to be deeply explored.
During the testing process, the team said the model showed “statistically significant” improvements in these areas compared to competing methods. In addition, the researchers reported that a group of more than 50 weather experts from the Met Office rated the AI model to be more accurate and useful in 89 percent of cases than existing forecasting systems.
Despite the study results, researchers admitted that the model still has limitations. They said “more work is needed to improve the accuracy of long-term predictions and the accuracy on rare and intense events.” The team said it will now center on developing new methods to test and measure the model's performance. It will also work to create more specialized systems to work in real-world conditions.
7. What do we know about the new AI model
A. The model is created by researchers of Met Office.
B. The model can predict any rainfall within 90 minutes.
C. The model needs improving in long-term forecasting.
D. The model has been used in real-world conditions.
8. What is Paragraph 3 mainly about
A. The difficulty of accurate nowcasting.
B. The relationship between weather forecasting and economy.
C. The necessity of building the new AI model.
D. The principles of the new model.
9. Why does the writer mention the weather experts from the Met Office in paragraph 4
A. To prove the advantage of the new model.
B. To compare the new model with the old systems.
C. To explain the rule of weather forecasting.
D. To show how the existing system works.
10. Which of the following can be the best title for the passage
A. Existing Forecasting system Needs Improving
B. AI Predicts Immediate Rainfall Better than Existing Systems
C. New Explorations in Weather Predictions
D. New Methods on Testing the AI Model's Performance

第二节 读后续写(满分25分)
47. 阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
Everyone likes the beautifulCinderella, but I like theugly stepsister. The sidewalk was filled with shoppers as my mother and I hurried to the department store, I raised my neck for a look at the holiday window display, but at the age of six I was too small to see around the grown-ups with their winter coats and packages. When at last we reached the store, I stood with my eyes widened. “Look,Mother,” I shouted, pressing my hands against the glass, “Cinderella.” Before my eyes was the most beautifuldollI had ever seen! She wore a fairy princess suit made of shining red silk. I knew if I lifted her skirt I would find her crystal(水晶)shoes. The tiny tiara(冠状头饰)fastened to her silky golden hair shone.
“If only she were mine,” I dreamed. “We’d have tea parties, share secrets and dance with a handsome prince.” But to mydisappointment, my mother guided me away from the window, explaining that she and my father could not afford such an expensive doll. “But there will be a very special gift under the tree for you onChristmasmorning, Madge,” she said. “I promise.” Later that week I leaned against Mother’s sewing machine, watching the needle flash up and down. “Bet you don’t know what this is!” she joked, holding up the cloth for me to see.
“My Christmas doll!” Iyelled. It was still in the early stages but I could make out the head, neck and body. “So much to my surprise!” Mother laughed as I danced around the room, already pretending Cinderella and I were at theball. It wouldn’t be long now.
My excitement grew with each passing day. Mother continued to work on the doll, and whenever I walked into the room she would hide it under a pillow. I could tell by her smile she was pleased with her progress. On Christmas morning I jumped out of bed, ran down the hall and quickly arrived at the living room where the Christmas tree was placed.
注意:1.所续写短文的词数应为150左右;
2.至少使用5个短文中标有下划线的关键词语;
3.续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好;
4.续写完成后,请用下划线标出你所使用的关键词语。
Paragraph 1:
There, underneath the tree, was a beautifully packed gift box.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Paragraph 2:
But I could see Mother watching me, with an eager look on her face.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】Paragraph 1:
There, underneath the tree, was a beautifully packed gift box. Inside it was the “doll!” I expected. I opened it holding my breath. However, to my disappointment, it was totally different from the one that we saw at the store. She had a simple face, and wore a plain skirt. Her black woolen hair was pulled back in a tight tie, with no shiny tiara at all. She was nothing like Cinderella; she looked more like the ugly stepsister.
Paragraph 2:
But I could see Mother watching me, with an eager look on her face. I stood there for a long moment and heard my mother sighed with relief, followed by a pleased smile. For the rest of the day, I made myself carry that homely doll everywhere. I even “fed” her with part of my Christmas dinner. Mother told me at one point that she was so glad I liked her!
在给的第一段开头中,“I was wondering what to say when I heard the sound of footsteps out of the tent.”“wondering ”意思是“想知道”,“It was exactly the young man in the photo but looked much stronger”此句中的the young man为关键词,因为后文都围绕这个词在说。
There, underneath the tree, was a beautifully packed gift box.(树下有一个包装精美的礼品盒。),所以后文应当描述作者看到娃娃时的事情,描述这个娃娃的样子以及作者的感受;第二段开头是:But I could see Mother watching me, with an eager look on her face.(我能看见母亲在看着我,脸上带着渴望的神情。),后文应当描写作者为了不让母亲失望而说自己喜欢这个娃娃的事情。
【点睛】[高分句型1]
When I opened it, I found it was totally different from the one that we saw at the store. 当我打开它的时候,我发现它和我们在商店看到的完全不同。运用when引导的时间状语从句。
[高分句型2]
The doll whose black woolen hair was pulled back in a tight tie, with no shiny tiara at all had a simple face, and wore a plain skirt.

A
Fifteen years ago, I took a summer vacation in Lecce in southern Italy.
1. What happened when the author was about to take a photo
B
In September 2020, it was announced that Cruise and Director Doug Liman had booked a flight on a SpaceX rocket headed for the ISS in October 2021.
D Peresild and Shipenko stayed in space for about 12 days.
6. What does the underlined phrase “up in the air” mean in the last paragraph
A. Announced. B. Unsettled. C. Excited. D. Checked.
C
