The Three Gorges Dam高中英语阅读教学设计
【本课选自外研版必修3 Module 6 Old and New Reading and Vocabulary】
一、教材分析
本模块以Old and New 为话题，介绍了中外几个著名的大型建筑工程， 如The Great Wall of China，Hong Kong International Airport， The Three Gorges Dam，帮助学生学习掌握相关词汇、短语，并在Module5的基础上进一步学习定语从句，提高口、笔头表达能力。同时使学生了解这些建筑物给社会环境和经济所带来的日新月异的变化。
Reading and Vocabulary 这一课时是本模块的第二课时，它是一篇说明文，介绍了我国著名的三峡大坝工程。通过阅读活动，使学生的predicting，skimming，scanning阅读技能有所提高。增进学生对著名工程的了解，通过引导学生对三峡大坝带来的巨大效益及其不利方面的比较，并帮助学生对于国家的发展形成积极正确的态度，增强民族自豪感。
二、学情分析
1. 通过第一课时，学生对于我国著名的三峡大坝背景知识已有所了解。
2. 高一的学生说明文以前也有所接触，但阅读能力还处于较低的阶段。
3. 在语言表达方面，学生虽有了一定的基础，但是仍需进一步的锻炼。
三、教学目标
依据新课程标准，在仔细研究教材的基础上，我确定了以下教学目标：
知识目标
（1）使学生掌握：
单词：construction, relic, generate, harness, historical, narrow, submerge, suggest;
短语：dream of, come true, hold back, live a(n)…life, be equal to;
句子：4 Attributive clauses(Para.1-4).
（2）丰富学生有关三峡大坝的知识。
2. 能力目标
提高学生的听说和阅读能力，使学生进一步掌握略读、查读和根据上下文猜测词义的能力。阅读的过程要注意主题句，提高获取信息和分析能力。
3. 情感态度与价值观目标
（1）帮助学生对于国家的发展形成积极正确的态度，增强民族自豪感。
（2）通过小组活动，指导学生积极与人合作，积极与人交流，相互学习，相互帮助，培养学生合作学习的意识。
四、教学重难点
教学重点：如何帮助学生掌握并熟练运用所学词汇和表达法。
教学难点：培养学生利用阅读技能获取信息，分析解决问题的能力。
五、教学方法
任务型教学方法、交际语言教学法
六、教学手段
采用多媒体教学手段，制作课件，展示相关图片和片断，以激发学生学习兴趣,提高课堂教学效率。
七、教学流程
Step1 Greetings（1’）
Greet the whole class as usual.
Step2 Lead-in（2’）
Show the poem 《水调歌头·游泳》 on the screen, and ask:
Do you know the poem Who wrote it
(显示红字部分“更立西江石壁，截断巫山云雨，高峡出平湖。”)
What is it referred to Do you know (三峡大坝)
Purpose: 通过欣赏毛泽东--《水调歌头·游泳》这首诗引入本课的话题，三峡大坝，会极大地激发学生的学习的兴趣，使学生很快地融入课堂教学内容，同时给学生创设一种愉快、轻松、积极的学习氛围。
Step3 Pre-reading（3’）
Show some pictures about the Three Gorges Dam. Learn the new words.（cilff, carvings…）
Purpose: 画中游三峡让学生有身临其境的感觉，加深学生对本课的兴趣。具体情境导入生词，便于理解，给下面的阅读做好了铺垫。
Step4 While-reading（23’）
（1）Skimming（3’）
Ask the Ss to skim the passage and summarize the main idea of each paragraph.(Pair work)
Para1 Mao Zedong’s dream has come true.
Para2 The Three Gorges Dam has been built to control flooding and provide hydro- electric power for the central region of China.
Para3 Sun Yat-sen first suggested the idea of a dam across the Yangtze River in 1919.
Para4 The reservoir has flooded 2 cities, 11 counties, 140 towns and more than 4,000 villages.
Para5 The Three Gorges area is one of the most beautiful areas of China and the project has flooded some of China’s most famous historical sites.
Purpose: 让学生运用略读技能，找主题句概括段落大意，整体把握文章结构，培养学生略读能力，锻炼分析和概括能力。
（2）Scanning（10’）
Let the Ss scan the passage and find out some details in each paragraph by asking questions.
(Group work) At the same time, show some pictures which are related to the passage and tell more about the details.
Paragraph 1
Show the Ss about Mao Zedong’ poem Swimming and ask one or two students to give some comments.
Paragraph 2
①Why does our government decide to construct the Three Gorges Dam
It is constructed to control flooding and provide hydro-electric power for the central region of China.
②What is the height and width
It’s 200 meters high and 1.5 meters wide.
③How much has it cost
It has cost more than any construction project in the history.
Paragraph 3
①What is the traditional way to produce heating and electricity
Heating and electricity are produced by burning coal.
② What are the disadvantages caused be the traditional way
It causes serious air pollution and increase global warming.
③ What are the advantages of the Three Gorges Dam
It generates electricity without causing so much air pollution.
Paragraph 4
More than a million people who lived in this region have moved from their home. So how is their life going now
They are living a happy new life in different areas. (To show a picture.)
Paragraph 5
What are the historical sites mentioned in the article Have they been well protected
Qu Yuan Temple, Han Watchtower and the Moya Cliff carvings have been flooded. About 800 historical relics have been submerged. Some of them are being removed and some are being put into museums.( To show some pictures.)
Purpose: 找读细节，给学生充分的时间让他们对课文的内容有个更清晰的了解，并通过回答问题让学生对课文的内容有个详细的消化吸收能进一步巩固对课文的理解。对课文中所涉及的一些信息呈现图片能够进一步丰富学生的有关三峡方面的知识，而且在这个过程中，不会因一直在找读细节而乏味，学生也会一直处于很兴奋的学习状态。另外，小组讨论能降低活动的难度，培养学生运用语言的能力。
（3）Careful reading（10’）
Underline the difficult points the Ss don’t understand, discuss in groups. If they can’t solve, the teacher will help.
Purpose: 在这个过程中，学生会自主交流，引导学生关注目标词汇；引导学生关注4个定语从句的结构，并引导学生关注第五段中的最后2句话，试着把它变为非限制性定语从句。（Some of them , some of which）
Step5 Post -reading（8’）
Discussion: Divide the whole class into two parts and let the Ss have a debate whether it’s worth constructing the Three Gorges Dam.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of the Three Gorges Dam
Do you think the advantages are more important than the disadvantages
Purpose: 这一环节是进行一个脱稿辩论，给出理由的过程中，那么就需要学生回归原文，再读课文，这样又进一步加深了对课文的理解和记忆，好学生也有发挥的空间，达到在充分输入的基础上很好地输出的目的。另外，辩论赛也有助于激发学生的兴趣，锻炼学生的语言运用能力，进而达到用语言做事的目的。通过引导学生对三峡大坝带来的巨大效益及其不利的比较，引导学生以积极正确的态度对待三峡工程，体现了对学生情感态度价值观的培养。
Step6 Summary（2’）
请学生回忆课堂学习过程，畅谈自己的收获和体会，培养学生及时回顾的好习惯；同时，教师进行补充完善，帮助学生构建具有高度的知识体系。教师还要适时进行情感渗透，通过学习三峡这篇课文增进学生对我国著名工程的了解，增强学生的责任感和民族自豪感。
Step7 Homework（1’）
（1）Review the expressions mentioned in the class.
（2）Write an essay about your attitudes towards constructing the Three Gorges Dam.
Purpose: 为了让学生进一步巩固知识，并增长见识。知识运用，从阅读能力向写作能力迁移，体现了由知识输入到知识输出过程的过渡。
最后，利用教材所给动画，在音乐和图片中再游三峡，回味课文内容。
Bb Design
板书设计力求简洁清晰，本课重难点一目了然，而且设计成一个类似大坝的图样，紧扣
主题。
八．Reflection预期效果及反思
本节阅读课以“以教师为主导，学生为主体”的理念设计，由毛泽东的诗词导入新课，极大地激发了学生的学习兴趣。阅读前设计了词汇的输入环节，为下步阅读扫清了障碍，通过Skimming 和Scanning的阅读策略，培养了学生用语言来分析解决问题，获取信息的能力。最后的Discussion环节，使学生回归课本，进一步加深了对课文的理解和记忆，并对所学知识进行输出和运用，最终达到培养综合运用语言能力的目的。在整个教学的过程中注重学法指导，逐步提高学生运用英语获取信息、处理信息、分析问题、解决问题的能力，为学生终生英语学习奠定良好基础。其间还对学生进行情感教育，引导学生以积极正确的态度对待三峡工程，通过对著名工程的了解，增强民族自豪感。如果能够很好地实施，课的效果应该还是不错的。但是在本课设计的过程中自我感觉活动的设计还是有些单一，情景创设上有所欠缺，开放性话题方面做得不够。
