William Butler Yeats was an Irish poet and playwright, and one of the foremost figures of 20th century literature. In 1923 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature.
Mary Anne Evans (1819-1880) (pen name George Eliot), one of the leading writers of the Victorian era. She has a paradoxical (矛盾的) idea between religion and humanity, and uses her works to show her ideal relationship among human beings.

What features did the winter especially like about the person he loved
The writer especially liked the woman’s “pilgrim soul”. A pilgrim is a person who makes a special journey for religious reasons; pilgrim soul probably means the fact that she was a spiritual person. He also loved the way her face changed, even when it was sad.
