tell stories 为固定短语,意为“讲故事”。
【辨析】speak,talk,say与tell
(1) speak用作不及物动词时,意为“讲话”,通常指说话的能力或动作,speak to sb. 表示“与某人说话”。作及物动词时,其后宾语为某种语言。如:
Can you speak English?你会说英语吗?
(2) talk意为“谈话;谈论”,指相互之间的谈话,一般用作不及物动词,与介词to或with连用,表示“与……(某人)交谈”。而谈及某人或某事时,后接介词of或about。如:Can we talk about the new movie in English?我们能用英 语谈谈这部新电影吗?
(3) say意为“说出;说过”,强调说话的内容,也可与介词to连用,say to sb. 意为“对某人说”。如:Can you say it in English?你能用英语说吗?
(4) tell意为“讲述;告诉”,作及物 动词时,指把一件事或一个故事讲出来,有连续诉说之意。例如:tell the truth说实话,tell a story讲故事,tell a lie说谎。tell也可接双宾语结构或复合宾语结构。例如: tell sb. sth. /tell sth. to sb告诉某人某事,tell sb. about sth.告诉某人关于某事,tell sb. (not) to do sth. 告诉某人(不要)去做某事。

探究一、 can的用法总结
(1)情态动词的 含义:情态动词表示说话人对某一动作或状态的看法,态度,本身有一定的词义,并和动词原形一起构成句子的谓语。情态动词表示说话人的某种情感态度,没有人称和数的变化。常见的情态动词有can, must, may等。如:
I can speak a little English. 我会讲一点儿英语。
He must come here this afternoon. 他下午一定要来这里。
May I go to the party? 我可以 去参加聚会吗?
(2)情态动词can的用法
1)表示能力,通常指在体力或脑力方面的能力,意为“能;会”。如:
He can speak English. 他会说英语。
2)表示许可,意为“可以”,这时可以和may通用,但是比may更正式。如:
Can I use your pen 我可以用你的钢笔吗?
3)表示可能性,意为“可能”,这时常出现在否定句中。如:
It can't be true. 这不可能是真的。
4)表示提供帮助。如:
Can I help you 需要我帮忙吗?
(3)can的有关句式
1)肯定句:主语+can+动词原形+其他。如:
Mary can play the drums. 玛丽会敲鼓。
2)否定句:主语+can't+动词原形+其他。如:
He can't play the piano. 他不会弹钢琴。
3)一般疑问句:Can+主语+动词原形+其他?肯定答语:Yes, 主语+can. 否定答语:No, 主语+can't. 如:

4)特殊疑问句:疑问词+can+主语+动词原形+其他?如:What can I do for you 我能为你做点什么呢?

情态动词(Modal verbs)
定义:表示说话人对动作的态度,比如:需要,可能,意愿,猜测或者怀疑等等。情态动词主要有下列: can (could), may (might), must, need, ought to, dare (dared), shall (should), will (would)
情态动词主要特征:
1.具有助动词作用,可以用来构成否定句,疑问句及用于简单回答。
2.后接动词原形,接不带to的不定式。
3.无人称和数的变化。
e.g:-Can you/he/she/they/it sing English songs? ...会唱英语歌吗?
-Yes ,I/he/she/they/it can. 是的,...会。
I/He/She/They/It can sing English songs....会唱英语歌.
情态动词can
can是情态动词,意思是“能; 可以”,不能独立作谓语,只能与其他动词(原形)一起构成谓语,且没有人称和数的变化。
◆can的主要用法 表示某种能力,意为“能;会”(本单元主要学习)
e.g:I can speak French. 我会讲法语。
She can dance. 她会跳舞。
They can join the story telling club.
他们能加入讲故事的俱乐部。
①观察例句: I can dance. 我会跳舞。
肯定句:主语+can+__________+其他.
②观察例句:I can’t sing. 我不会唱歌。
否定句:主语+__________+_________+其他.
注意:can与not可缩写成can’t或cannot。
