五、Teaching Procedures
Step 1. Lead-in
1. Greetings.
2. Whole class enjoy a cartoon of Yu Gong moves a mountain. And then ask the students some questions.
T: Can you tell me the name of the cartoon
S1:It’s about Yu Gong.
S2: It’s a traditional Chinese story.
T: Yes, it’s Yu Gong moves a mountain.
T: What other traditional Chinese stories do you know
(Show Ss another three pictures)
S1: Ne Zha Conquers the Dragon King
S2: Magic Brush Ma Liang
S3: Chang’e Flies to the Moon.
T: So great, now let’s go on! Let’s move to today’s new class!
Step 2. Presentation
T: Before the class, let’s learn some new words .
1.Teach the new words and expressions.
(Show some pictures of the new words to the students and then ask them to repeat.)
Try to remember the words in the sentences.
2.Students tell the Chinese names of the follow four pictures of the fairy stories.
( The teachers show the four pictures to students)
3. The teacher represent the English names of the follow four pictures of the fairy stories. Then the students read them after the teachers.
4.Look at the pictures in 1a, then read the names of the story in the box.
5. Students discuss with their partners and match the names of the stories with the pictures.
Step 3. Listening 1
Tell students they will hear a great Chinese traditional story.
2. Let students look through the sentences in 1b and then predict the name of the story.
3. Play the recording for the first time. Then let students check the answers they hear.
4. Ask the students who know the name of the story to hand up.
5. Check the answers.
6. Listen for the second time and answer the following two questions.
Why did the old man want to move the mountains
Where would they put all the earth and stone from the mountains
Step 4. Listening 2
Work on 2a:
T: Let’s have a further study of Yu Gong Moves a Mountain.
Pay attention to the pictures in 2a. Then, talk about them with the desk mates. Then, ask one student to share his opinions.
2. Play the recording for the students to listen for the first time and number the pictures.
3. Play the recording again to check the answers.
Work on 2b:
1. Help the students to read the difficult words and expressions in the sentences in 2b. Next, ask them to read the sentences in 2b. Then, help them to read the difficult sentences make sure the whole class can read them correctly.
2. Play the recording for the students to circle the correct words in the brackets.
3. Choose four students to check the answers and then ask them to read the complete sentences.
Step 5. Pair work(4 students per group)
1. Let the students make the four pictures into a story chain. Then the four students talk the story today.
2. Let some Ss tell the story to the class.
Step 6. Role-play(4 students per group)
Ask four students to act as the four characters in 2b.
Student A for the man, Student B for Yu Gong
Student C for the god, Student B for the Voiceover
2. Ask students to role-play the conversation in groups.
Step 7. Summary
In this class, we have learned how to talk about the stories. It’s a little difficult. You should practice it after class. Then tell stories to others.
Step 8. Homework
1. Recite the conversation in 2b after school.
2. Tell the story Yu Gong Moves a Mountain in English to your parents.

七、教后反思
本节课由卡通片导入新课,学生兴趣较高,但听故事容易讲故事难,让他们自己讲的时候就开不了口了,应加强这方面的训练;此外,在小组活动与角色扮演这两个环节,由于学生的基础比较薄弱,需要老师在旁边不断地提示才能够讲出完整的句子。今后上课视学生实际情况决定是否删减其中一个环节。
