1. Teaching points 教学重点:
Guessing the meanings of the idioms in a certain context and using them in different contexts.
2. Anticipated problems and solutions 预设问题和解决方法
Problem: Students might have difficulties in “Create sentences with the given idioms”.
Solutions: a. The teacher gives an example.
b. The students create sentences in groups
学生分析:
1班的学生参差不齐,大多乐于参与英语学习,但学生课外阅读量不足,学习能力需进一步提高,特别是词汇学习能力的培养。初三下半学期的教学相对来说比较单一。这篇文章中出现了很多idioms,内容也是学生比较感兴趣的,希望通过阅读课,来调动学生积极性,增加阅读量。
Teaching procedures:

I. lead in Sts>T 1. Students: Guess the meanings of the idioms containing colors. To elicit the topic and engage the students.
2. Students: Find GREEN in the text.
II. Researches on idioms S-S Individual work 1. Students: Do a classification of idioms and proverbs. To compare idioms and proverbs and learn the identifications of them.
T>Sts 2. Teacher: Identify idioms and proverbs
III. Idioms in the text Sts>T Individual work & Open class work 1. Teacher: Give one example of the idioms in the text. Students: Find other four idioms in the text. To practise finding and guessing the meanings of the idioms in the context.
2. Students: Use the phrases to replace them in the sentences.
S-S Group work 3. Teacher: Present the title of the article and give two tips. Students: Explain the two meanings of the idiom (look up in the dictionary if necessary). To practise finding out the meaning of the idiom by looking up in a dictionary.
S-S Pair work 4. Students: Use the idioms to complete or create dialogues. To practise using the idioms in different contexts.
IV. Supplementary idioms S-S Group work 1. Students: Guess the meanings of the idioms in the context. To practise guessing the meanings of the idioms in the context.
2. Students: Rearrange the groups and complete the whole passage. To practise using the idioms in a certain context by peer-learning.
Ⅴ. Creating time S-S Group work 1. Students: Choose one or two idioms to create sentences. To practise using the idioms to create sentences.
Ⅵ. Assignment T>Sts 1. Oral work: Recite the five sentences including idioms in the text accurately and fluently. 2. Written work: Select at least two idioms you’ve learned to create a short passage. 3. Optional work: Find one or two new idioms (from magazines, newspapers, the Internet, etc.) and use them to make our class idiom poster. To consolidate what they have learned today and practise using idioms in different contexts. To practise researching daily expressions in different ways.

教学后记:
初三教学虽然紧张,甚至到了下半学期,教学有些枯燥,但阅读课的设计,一系列活动的设计,能极大的调动学生的积极性,提高课堂效率。
