一、学情分析
经过四年多的学习，五年级学生已经具有一定程度的基本知识和对话能力。他们对自己、身边的人、居住的环境、日常生活、常见食物等内容十分熟悉。从知识性质来看，四年的学习为他们提供了足够的客观事物的认知。进入五年级则是要利用这些客观认知，对事物进行主观上的判断与思考，组合与创造。因此，五年级是一个承上启下的重要阶段。
从知识能力上分析，学生在五年级上册的第二模块的学习中已经掌握了“living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom”等单词。同时，他们也在以往的学习中掌握了“ I like…，I can…，There is…，There are…”等句型，有能力进行相应的对话。
从情感态度上分析，五年级学生的成长速度正在加快，自我意识的增长令他们对英语课文学习的兴趣有了能动性增加。一方面他们因为思维能力还处于发展状态，也喜欢通过自己已有的知识与能力去创造属于自己的事物。因此教师需要为学生创造出合适的情境与学习氛围，引导学生，帮助他们把主观能动性和创造力导向知识的学习与实际应用。
二、教材分析
本单元是五年级下册Module 1 Unit 2。在五年级上册教材中，学生对事物的认知和回答以客观事实为主。在本册教材中，学生将会更多地学习在客观环境中，以个人的主观意愿为核心进行对事物的描述和互动。
本单元为五年级下册第二单元。单元主题切合学生日常生活环境，有利于学生在真实的情境中，利用已有知识帮助自己学习新知。
本模块涉及的单词有“tidy, why, study, dining room, future, machine”等。涉及的句型有“Are they yours / No, they aren’t”用于询问物品所属。“Why do you like … /Because …”用于询问某人为什么喜欢某事物的原因及如何回答。“I’ll … / I won’t …”用于表达自己在未来将要或不会做的事情。涉及的语音有：“ar, ue, oo, ir, ur, au, oor, ee, ea, eer, ear”。
本单元内容贴近学生生活。家中的房间是孩子们每天都会身处的环境，他们在家中学习、生活、成长，可以用这一点来激发学生灵活运用知识的能力。也可以在此基础上，把家中的房间替换为学校的各种功能室，用学生同样熟悉的另一种环境来进行拓展学习。
三、单元设计思路和依据
本单元主题是 Our new home。学生需要能正确认读、拼写与家中的房间有关的单词。学生可以学到特定字母组合在单词中的发音。学生能比较熟练地运用Why开头的特殊疑问句进行问答对话。学生要能够利用所学知识表达自己对事物的喜好并可以说明原因。最后，学生能够在所学内容的基础上结合生活实际进行想象，提出自己梦想中房屋的想法和建议，并最终用句型和词汇进行书面表达。
