Teaching Aims 1. Knowledge objects a. Enable the Ss to remember the new words and past forms: gym, do-did, go-went, hurt-hurt, buy-bought, think-thought, teach-taught b. Get the Ss to be familiar with this pattern: --Where did you go --I went to the ... 2. Ability objects a. Ask the Ss to know about the simple rules of the past tense (eg. go/went, do/did, today, yesterday). b. Develop the Ss’ skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. c. Train the students how to talk and write with the past tense. 3. Moral objects a. Arouse their interest in learning English; b. Enable students to build self-confidence in learning English. c. Encourage students not to give up when they meet troubles.
Teaching Method In this lesson I’ll mainly use the communicative teaching method, the group-cooperate teaching method, the game teaching method and the task-based teaching method to cultivate and develop students’ interests of listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Learning Method Through my lesson, the Ss will improve their English skills. They’ll use the summarizing method, the observing method, audio visual method and the exchanging method, which helps the Ss form good habits of English learning.
Key Point 1. The new words and past forms: gym, do-did, go-went, hurt-hurt, buy-bought, think-thought, teach-taught 2. The structures: --Where did you go --I went to the ... --Did you ... -- Yes,we did.
Difficult Point Grammar: the past tense: go-went. E.g. We went to the gym. Ask the Ss to know about and talk with the correct form.

Step 1: Warm up Sing a song “What did you do ” 1) Greeting. Hello, boys and girls. Today, we will learn “Lesson 4 Where did you go ” 2) Introduce the assessment and divide Ss into boys team and girls team. 3) Introduce myself, look at some pictures and review some places. Step2:New Concept. 1) Demonstrate the new word with PPT. (Distinguish “gym” and “stadium”) 2) Key Sentence Lead the Ss to say “I went to the gym.” Step 3 Pre-reading. Introduce the main characters and understand the passage in whole, finish some questions. Step4 While-reading Read and find out the past forms. Practice the dialogue in pairs. Use the key words to recite this morning. Play a game. Memory the missing words; Summarize the rules and say more words they know. Listening. Listen and fill in the blanks. 6) Understand deeply of the text and answer some questions. Step 5 Post-reading. Summarize the knowledge materials. Use the pictures and phrases to recite. Step 6 Expanding reading. Give the Ss different passage to finish the information gap. Step 7 Proverb and homework. Summarize the past forms. Write about your day with the past tense. Prepare a song about the text. Let the Ss know about the assessment and review some places. Lead in the new word. Ask the Ss “What can you do at the gym ” Distinguish “gym” and “stadium” Let the Ss know about the main characters, and watch the video with some questions. Teacher makes a demonstration with a student. Teacher should give an example first, and then ask Ss to talk. Listen and write down the missing words. Then check the answers. Watch the video and answer some questions. Give the Ss two levels to finish. Group work. To know about the other team’s material by asking some questions. Sing a song and know about the past tense. Guess “Where did you go ” and look at the screen, remember the pictures appeared. The Ss can say some phrases, such as play basketball, play ping-pong, etc. Watch the video and answer the questions, they will get a knowledge material. Read the first part and find out the past forms. Practice in pairs and act the dialogue. Ss can say some sentences, and they can use other words to talk. Ss can grasp the key words and write down the words by themselves. Answer some questions. Ss can recite this morning or this afternoon. They can also recite this morning and this afternoon. Homework Design 1. Thinking train(思维训练) Memory the key phrases and the key sentences. Purpose: Improve the students’ spelling and writing skills. 2. Expanding train (拓展冲浪) Write a passage with the past tense. Purpose: Improve the students’ writing and word-organizing ability.
