When I first moved to China in 2009, I was surprised to see that a lot of restaurants had outdoor seating on the sidewalk (人行道). People just sat on plastic stools (塑料凳), eating barbecue (烧烤) and drinking fresh beer (啤酒).
This is not quite as common in the US. Some restaurants there do have outdoor seating, but it is not quite as open and cheap as it was in Beijing. When people eat outdoors, they usually do it in their backyards (后院) or when they’re camping – not on the sidewalk.
It looked fun, so I gave it a try. I would often go out with my friends and spend a whole evening eating barbecue, drinking, and chatting (聊天). It was much cheaper than going out to “real” restaurants.
But things have changed since then. Restaurants can’t have outdoor seating any more. My favorite barbecue restaurants are gone. At least I still have some good memories (回忆) of those times.

High schools in Ontario, Canada, have some special courses. These are e-courses(网络课程). They are different from regular classes because they don't need classrooms or blackboards.
