Chinese Internet users didn't agree with what H&M replied about Xinjiang cotton because the reply meant the firm was not doing wrong.So they were very angry and asked H&M to leave the Chinese market.The company had previously said it didn't allow using the cotton from Xinjiang.As a result, H&M faced a social death in China.Its products disappeared on many online shopping websites.And service apps such as Baidu map and Dazhong Dianping blocked__search results for its stores.Nike became the next brand that made the Chinese angry.Many stars stopped their working relationship with the brand.
People also left reviews on the official Weibo account of H&M to show their anger, including sentences such as “You refuse the Chinese cotton, so I will refuse your products.”
The Communist Youth League of China (CYLC) posted on its Weibo account on March 24, 2021, “Want to make money in China while refusing Xinjiang cotton It is wishful thinking！” In another post, the CYLC used the words said by Chinese senior diplomat Yang Jiechi at Alaska meeting with the US officials, in which he said, “The Chinese won't accept this，①” referring to the US condescending(居高临下的)
actions against China.“Xinjiang cotton won't accept this，” the CYLC said in the post, advising H&M to take off its colored glasses and immediately stop spreading false information about Xinjiang.②
