Exhausted Finns (芬兰人) in the western city of Turku can now escape pressures at home or stress at work at a café where people can catnap (打盹儿).
The idea of Turku’s new “nap” café is from Jeremy Mast, a Frenchman who has been living in Finland since 2006 and was searching for a place to rest several years ago.
“The idea came to me in a restaurant when I felt a bit sleepy after a meal,” he said. “I thought it would be so nice to have a place for resting and I started to think what it could be like.”
After finding people liked his idea, Mast opened the Naphouse in January, 2009 with the support of the European Union’s youth culture budget. The café is also used as an art gallery and an activity workshop for young people.
People are given slippers, a pillow, a blanket (毯子) and even a teddy bear before entering the blue-coloured nap room.
“A lot of different kinds of people come here: students, working people and a lot of mothers with babies,” Mast said, adding that his customers often sleep there for about an hour and a half.
Customers can use the service for free, but some choose to make a donation to the Naphouse.
Now that he runs the Naphouse, however, Mast says he does not always have time to have a nap during the day.

Is there intelligent(有智力的) life on other planets For years, scientists said “No.” or “We don't know.” But today this is changing. Seth Shostak and Alexandra Barnett are astronomers(天文学家). They believe intelligent life exists(存在) somewhere in the universe. They also think we will soon contact these beings.
Why do Shostak and Barnett think intelligent life exists on other planets The first reason is time. Scientists believe the universe is about 12 billion years old. “This is long enough for other planets to have intelligent life,” say Shostak and Barnett. The second reason is size—the universe is huge. “Tools like the Hubble Telescope(哈勃望远镜) have shown that there are at least 100 billion galaxies,” says Shostak. “And our galaxy, the Milky Way, has at least 100 billion stars. Some planets going around these stars might be similar to the Earth.”
In the past, it was hard to look for signs of intelligent life in the universe. But now, powerful telescopes(高倍望远镜) allow scientists to discover smaller planets—the size of Mars or the Earth—in other solar systems. These planets might have intelligent life.
Have beings from space already visited the Earth “Probably not,” says Shostak. “It's a long way away. However, intelligent beings may contact us in other ways, such as radio signals(信号). In fact, they may be trying to communicate with us now, but we don't have the right tools to receive their messages. However, this is changing. By 2025, we could make contact with other life__forms in our universe and we might help each other.”
( )1.Seth Shostak and Alexandra Barnett are________.
A.astronomers B.farmers
C.singers D.drivers
( )2.What is the best title for Paragraph 2
A.The Age and Size of the Earth
B.Our Galaxy—The Milky Way
C.Why Intelligent Life Might Exist
D.The Earth—The Only Planet with Intelligent Life
( )3.Why was it hard to look for signs of intelligent life in the universe in the past
A.Because there were not any smaller planets.
B.Because there were not any powerful telescopes.
C.Because the astronomers were not interested in them.
D.Because the Milky Way didn't exist at that time.
( )4.Why haven't beings from space visited us yet according to Shostak
A.Because they're afraid of us.
B.Because it's a long way away.
C.Because they don't want to see us.
D.Because they don't know how to use radio signals.
( )5.What does the underlined phrase “life forms” in the last paragraph mean
A.Messages.
B.Tools.
C.Intelligent beings.
D.Radio signals.

“Polly wants to eat a cracker(饼干)!”
You may have heard a bird on television, in a movie, or in real life say these words. Does the bird really want to eat a cracker The answer is yes...and no. Polly probably will eat a cracker, but what she really wants is some attention.
Certain kinds of birds are excellent talkers. They like to copy the sounds they hear around them. They also like the attention that people give them when they talk.
Many wild birds have the ability to mimic or copy sounds. Crows(乌鸦), jays(松鸦), and starlings(八哥) all can do it. But these birds seldom make good pets because they need lots of room, and they are not often comfortable around people.
Some pet birds, such as parrots, can be great talkers. Among the large parrots, the best talkers are African Grey Parrots and Amazonas.
One should remember that a certain kind of bird can talk does not mean it will talk. Each bird has a different personality. Some birds never learn to talk. Some may learn only a few words or sounds. Others seem to learn a large vocabulary easily.
Although each bird is different, younger birds are more likely to learn to talk than older birds. Also, male birds are usually better talkers than females. However, if you teach a bird to whistle(吹口哨) before it learns to talk, it may never learn to talk. This might be because whistling is easier for the bird.

Let's suppose it is a common day of 2060. Of course, things have changed and life is very different.
Trips to the Moon are being made every day. Taking a holiday on the Moon today is as easy as taking a holiday in Europe in the 2010's. There are many scenic spots(风景胜地) on the Moon. And many hotels have been built. In order that everyone can enjoy the beautiful scenery on the Moon, every room has at least one picture window. Everything imaginable is provided for entertainment of the young and old.
What are people eating now People are still eating food. But many foods now come in the form of pills, and the food that goes into the pills comes mainly from green plants.
Because of the rapid increase in population, most of the Earth's surface has to be filled. The deserts are irrigated with water and crops are no longer eaten by pests(害虫). The harvest is always good. Farming, of course, is very highly developed. Very few people have to work on the farm. It is possible to run the farm by just using a few computers.
People are now largely vegetarians, and they eat only bread, vegetables, fruit and so on and they don't eat meat or fish. You see, as the number of people increases, the number of animals decreases. So people have to be vegetarians. We are healthier both in our bodies and in our minds, and we know how to deal with all kinds of illnesses. No one has to be ill any more.
Such would be our life in 2060.
