Analysis of the teaching material
The writing task Write a letter to the Head Teacher is based on the topic Helping Those in Need in Unit 1, Module 1, Book 8. The previous texts introduce three teenagers’ voluntary experiences through a form of diary. The voluntary work includes orphanage, the recovery center for the disabled and the children’s hospital. Helping people in need has been an appealing topic for students, and the writing task gives the students a good chance to talk about how to help the poor children in the poor areas. It also gives them a good chance to design a good plan to donate money to help kids in need. Therefore, it can train students to think and to make plans. The writing task can also be a good chance for the students to put into use what they have read and learnt in this unit.
