Analysis of Teaching Material This is a grammar lesson, which introduces usages of gerunds as subjects and objects.
Analysis of Students Students in this grade are of comparatively moderate level of English competencies. They have learned some phrases with gerunds, but in terms of definition and using them correctly, students need more guidance and practice.
Teaching Objectives After this class, students are expected to: Knowledge objective: know the definition and form of gerunds.master gerunds as subjects and objects systematically.Ability objective: sum up some language rules through examples and practice. be able to use gerunds correctly in specific contexts. Emotional objective: realize the importance of health and have an awareness of living a healthy life.

Step 3 Presentation: Forms of gerunds Guide Ss to speak out the action in the picture and show how to form a gerund.Guide Ss to summarize the rules to form a gerund. Identify the action in the picture and observe how to form a gerund. Read the words in the chart and summarize the rules to form a gerund. To help students understand the forms.Guide Ss to summarize the rules of forming a gerund.
Step 4 Presentation:Gerunds as subjects Introduce “subject” and “object” with an example. Give examples to introduce the function of gerunds as subjects and guide Ss to work out the rule in a sentence. Go over how to tell the subject and object in a sentence. Work out the rule that “When we use a gerund as the subject of a sentence, the main verb is in singular form”. To raise Ss’ awareness of using correct grammatical forms in sentences. To guide Ss to use gerunds as subjects correctly.
Step 5 PracticeSet up the context and the usage Show some quizzes on gerunds as subjects. Ask Ss to list some other activities that are important to our health. Finish some exercises with gerunds as subjects. Think about other activities that are import. ant to our health To help students understand the concept and and use the gerunds as subjects in different contexts properly .
