join 指加入某党派、团体、组织、俱乐部等并成为其中的一员。表示短暂性的动作,不与表示一段时间的状语连用。
join in 一般指参加竞赛、娱乐、游戏等活动,其后一般接名词或动词-ing形式。
易混辨析
attend, take part in,join或join in
valuable作形容词,由“ value(n. 价值) + -able(形容词后缀)”构成。

1.Ask students to focus attention on the picture. Have students point to each item and say out its name.

4.As students work, move around the classroom checking their progress and answering any questions they may have.
5.Show the correct answers on the screen.

Step 4 Pair Work (1c)
1.Get students to work with a partner. Start by reading the conversation in the box. Then ask students to make conversations using the information in the chart of Activity 1b. Talk about whom each thing might belong to and give a reason.
2. As students work, move around the classroom offering help as needed.
3.After all the students have had an opportunity to ask and answer questions, stop the activity. Get different pairs of students to act out their conversations to the class.
Step 5 Listening (2a)
1.Background of 2a: You know there are many things in the lost and found case. Many students find something but they don’t know the owner.
2.The first listening of 2a: Bob and Anna found a schoolbag in front of their school. "What’s in the schoolbag " Play the recording for the first time. The students listen to the tape only.
3.Finish 2a: Play the recording a second time. Students write down the things in the schoolbag.
4.Check the answers.
Step 6 Listening (2b)
1.Call students’ attention to the chart. Point to the numbered list of sentences which contain a blank.
2.Play the recording. Have students listen to it and fill in the blanks. Check the answers.

4.Point to the box that explains the explanations of how to use the words must, might, could and can’t. Read the explanations to the class. Make sentences with each of the words and write the sentences on the blackboard.?
Step 7 Make conversations.(2c)
1.Read the instructions to the class. Point to the sample conversation. Invite a pair of students to act it out to the class.
2.Have students work in pairs. Move around the classroom offering help as needed.
3.Ask different pairs to act out their conversations to the class.
Step 8 Role play the conversation. (2d)
1.Show the background of the conversation: Linda has a schoolbag. She likes it very much. She brings it to attend a concert. Do you want to know what happens to her schoolbag one day Let’s read the conversations in 2d.
2.Have students read the conversation between boys and girls. Then answer the above question.
3.Have students work in pairs. Read and act out the conversation.

belong to 意为“属于”,它一般不用于
进行时态和被动语态。如:

此外, belong to sb. 通常可以和名词性物主代词或名词所有格(一般是’s 所有格)互相转换。如:

join in多指参加小规模的活动如“游戏, 比赛”, 口语中常用。
e.g. Join in the basketball game. 参加篮球赛。
take part in 指参加会议或群众性活动, 着重说明主语参加该项活动并在活动中发挥作用。
e.g. We’ll take part in the sports meeting/club.
take an active part in 积极参加……
attend 正式用语
vt. 指参加会议, 婚礼, 葬礼, 典礼; 去上课, 上学, 听报告等。
句子主语只是去听, 去看, 自己不一定起积极作用。
e.g. I attended a night school. 我上夜校。

must在此处表示推测, 意为“一定”。英语中当情态动词后接have done时, 表达对过去的事情进行推测, 故must have done something表示“过去一定做过了”这样的意思。
e.g. He’s playing outside. He must have finished his homework.

常用于否定句或疑问句中; 当用于肯定句中时, 相当于any person, 意为“任何
人”。
