(1)unexpected adj. 意为“出乎意料的;始料不及的”,可在句中作定语或表语。它是由expected加否定前缀un构成的。
His death was totally unexpected.
他的死亡完全出乎意料。
(2)be full of …意为“充满……”,表示状态,相当于be filled with。
The cup is full of water.=The cup is filled with water.杯子里装满了水。
2. What happened 发生了什么?(教材第89页)
(1) sth. + happen +时间/地点,意为“某时/某地发生了某事”。
如:An accident happened in our neighborhood just now. 刚才我们社区发生了一起事故。
(2) sth. + happen to +sb.,意为“某人发生了某事”。
如:A car accident happened to Jim yesterday. 昨天吉姆发生了交通事故。
(3) sb. + happen to do sth.意为“某人碰巧做某事”。
如:I happened to hear that interesting story.
我碰巧听说了那个有趣的故事。
(2)by the time意为“到……时为止,在……以前”,引导时间状语从句,主句常用过去完成时。
如:By the time I came in, Tom had written his name on the blackboard.

3.My alarm clock didn't go off!
go off还有“中断,失去对……的兴趣”的意思,也可表示(食物)变坏,变质,(灯)熄灭,(水,电)断掉,(质量)下降。
e.g. She has gone off coffee. Give some milk to her.
她对咖啡已不感兴趣。给她一些牛奶。
4.So I just quickly put on some clothes and rushed out of the door.
①rush用作动词,意为“冲,奔,赶紧”。常用短
语rush to do sth.意为“赶紧做某事”。
