“Without music, life would be a mistake, ”famous German philosopher( 哲学家) FriendrichNietzsche said over a century ago. Music is a big part of our lives. But in recent years, some Us schoolshave cut music classes to control budgets(预算).
For example, Chicago Public schools hurt arts education when it fired(解雇)over 1, 000 teachers.Among them,10 percent of the teachers taught art or music, according to The Washington Times. Infact, this is not just a problem in the US. In other countries, such as China and the UK music classes arenot thought to be as important as ones like science, maths and history. that's partly because music isnot seen as a very important life skill, and it isn’t tested. When playing music, you need different abilities to work together. It is not as simple as itlooks, according to Kenneth Guilmartin of Music Together, an early childhood music developmentprogram. For example, when playing the piano, people see music notes and decode(解码)them in theirbrains. They also use their fingers to make sounds. You need to deal with all these things at the sametime.
Music has a special connection with science as well. You can see that many scientists are good atplaying music :Einstein played the violin, and German physicist Max Planch was talented in playing thepiano.

When he was a little boy, his uncle called him "Sparky" after a comic strip (连环漫画) horse named Spark Plug.
School was all but impossible for Sparky. He failed every subject in the eighth grade. And his record in sports wasn't any better. While he did manage to get a place in the school’s golf team, he soon lost the only important match of the season.
Throughout his youth. Sparky was socially awkward(笨拙的). It wasn't that the other students disliked him; it was just that no one really cared that much. In fact, Sparky would be surprised if a classmate said hello to him outside of school hours.
Sparky was a loser. He, his classmates . . . everyone knew it. So he learned to live with it. Sparky had made up his mind early in life that if things were meant to work out, they would. Otherwise, he would be satisfied with his mediocrity(平庸).
However, one thing was important to Sparky— drawing. He was proud of his artwork. Of course, no one else appreciated it. In his senior year of high school, he sent some of his cartoons to the editors of the yearbook. The cartoons were turned down. Despite the rejection(拒绝), Sparky was so sure of himself that he decided to become a professional artist.
After completing high school, Sparky wrote a letter to Walt Disney Animation Studios (华 特迪士尼动画工作室). They asked for some samples of his artwork. Sparky spent a great deal of time on them. Finally, the reply came. He had been rejected once again.
But Sparky still didn't give up. Instead, he decided to tell his own life story in cartoons. He described his childhood self—a little boy loser. The cartoon character soon became famous worldwide. People identified with(与 产生共鸣)this "lovable loser. " He reminded people of the painful from their own past.
Sparky, the boy who had never had any success in school and whose works were rejected again and again, is the highly successful cartoonist Charles Schulz (查尔斯 舒尔茨). He created the “Peanuts" comic strip and the little cartoon character whose kite would never fly and who never succeeded in kicking a football— Charlie Brown.
