本句中keep意为“保持”，结构为keep…+adj.
(1)keep表示“保持”，有下列用法：
1)keep +n.+adj.例如：Please keep our classroom clean and tidy.

3)keep+介词词组，例如：The little girl kept in good health.
4)keep+doing sth.例如：Helen kept studying.

(2)both…and…“既……又……”用于指两者之间，可连接句中两个相同的句子成分，连接两个主语时，谓语动词用复数。
1）连接两个并列主语。Both my father and mother are at home.
2)连接两个并列谓语。He can both speak English and write Chinese.
3)连接两个并列宾语。We like both English and Chinese.
4)连接两个并列表语。He is both a soldier and a poet.
另外，neither…nor…是both…and…的反义词组。意为“既不……也不……”连接两个并列主语时，谓语动词的单复数形式符合就近原则。
