课题:Unit 10 Great inventions
学情分析
本单元教授对象为五年级学生,他们经过四年多的英语学习和语言积累,已具备了一定的听说读写能力,能用简单的英语对一般的情景进行比较完整的描述。他们年龄在十一岁左右,生性活泼好动,直观形象思维较强,同时逻辑思维在发展,有着极强的求知欲和表现欲。 学习策略方面,他们掌握了简单的单词拼读方法和阅读策略,具有一定的自主学习能力和用英语进行思维、交际的能力。在以前的学习中,学生已掌握部分交通工具词、地点介词、情态动词、描述事件发生顺序的副词等词汇,以及一般现在时、一般将来时等语法知识,为本单元的学习打下了一定的语法基础。
Great inventions是学生之前较少接触的话题,但学生这些发明的物品并不陌生,同时也已经有了一定的生活体验。因此,本课时的话题,能够基于学生的生活体验,让学生有话可说。之前学习的相关物品的词汇和句型表达也为本课的语言学习和输出进行了铺垫。
教材分析
牛津教材采用“模块建筑式”编写体系。教材以模块(Module)为单位组织教学内容,模块内的语言材料围绕一个主题展开。本单元是Module4 Things we enjoy中的Unit10 Great inventions,谈论重大的发明。本单元在语言点方面是对第四、五单元的be going to句型、对第六单元的一般将来时中will的应用、第七单元的描述事件发生顺序的副词等的复习和巩固。
“发明”是一个与生活密切相关的话题,古今中外的伟大发明更是改变了人们的生活方式,从而给世界带来了翻天覆地的变化。通过对本单元的学习,学生能够运用核心词汇和句型谈论和伟大发明相关的内容。在相对熟悉的语言结构中学习新话题,体现了以旧带新,复现旧知,并进行螺旋上升的教材特点,提高学生综合运用语言的能力。
三、单元设计思路和依据
义务教育阶段英语课程标准(2011版)中指出,英语课程的总体目标为“通过英语学习使学生形成初步的语言运用能力,促进心智发展,提高综合人文素养。”总目标的核心部分是综合语言运用能力,语言技能和语言知识为其基础。所以,创设真实语境是培养学生综合语用能力、提高语言技能、丰富语言知识的关键。本单元基于学校科技节这一主题,设计了四个课时分话题,进行单元整体设计。它们分别是:
课时一:Great inventions we know
课时二:An invention story
课时三:Inventions and our lives
课时四:A delicious invention
第一课时的内容文本呈现了Ms Guo和学生讨论世界上各种发明的场景。学生综合运用以往学过的句型,交流自己所熟识的great inventions,讨论不同发明对人们生活的影响。在本课时中,教师还鼓励学生发挥想象力,想象自己要发明的东西,培养学生的创新思维。
第二课时复习了第一课时学习的伟大发明的内容并讲述了莱特兄弟发明飞行机器的过程。学生将通过学习这个故事,了解发明东西的所有步骤。并通过讨论自己想要发明的东西,这个东西的作用,以及发明这个东西的过程,具体地制定出自己发明的计划,并引导学生脚踏实地,一步步实现自己的梦想。
第三课时要求学生运用前两个课时所学知识对发明进行讨论,谈论发明如何改变我们的生活。学生通过学习中国古代四大发明,进一步理解发明对人类生活带来的巨大变化,增强民族自豪感。最后引导学生从发明如何使人们的生活更便利、更智能、更有趣等角度思考自己的发明创造,画一画、写一写自己的发明。
第四课时的主要内容为复习前三课时以及阅读故事。学生将通过厨师米勒偶然间发明薯片的故事,明白发明创造并非都是惊天动地的事情。有时候一个发明的诞生所需要的,只是细心观察,抓住机会敢于尝试。同学们可以充分利用自己的知识和能力,展开想象,自己变成一个小发明家。
这四个话题相互关联,螺旋上升,遵循了由易到难的学习规律,也符合从课本到生活的语用目标。话题设计遵循以教材内容为语量基础,以单元主题为语境基础,以话题推进为语用基础的原则,层次递进、相互融合,更好地达成从初步感知到熟练运用语言的学习目标。

通过Listen and say关于发明的对话引入新词,学习如何介绍发明及其功能。
通过Look and learn栏目,帮助学生学习核心词汇。
通过Do a survey的调查活动,让学生运用所学句型调查同学的发明设想。

掌握核心词汇invention, watch, anywhere, travel, invent, myself, camera。
