课题:Unit 12 The giant’s garden
一、学情分析:
本课教学对象是小学五年级学生,他们经过四年的英语学习后,具备了一定的英语基础,并养成了较好的听说读习惯,他们始终对语言学生保持着较高的热情和兴趣,并乐于通过表演来展现自己。在语言知识方面,学生已经学习并能区分运用一般现在时,现在进行时和一般将来时来描述事物状态。另外,学生能够运用祈使句表达命令或者禁止,这些为本单元的学习奠定了知识基础。
教材分析:
本单元的故事是由著名的童话故事《自私的巨人》改编而成,一定程度上能够较好的激发学生的英语学习兴趣。通过学习本篇,让学生懂得“快乐要与人分享”的道理。基于故事The giant’s garden,我们结合单元主题和学生的语言知识,将内容进行整合,对文本进行升级,让学生在真实的语境下,用一般现在时态和频度副词描述花园的特征,通过拓展对话和撰写剧本表演帮助学生深入理解故事,进而对故事角色进行评价,培养学生思辨能力及正确的价值观。另外,本模块是对不同年级知识点的循环再现,体现知识的复现和循环上升。
单元设计思路和依据
本单元是Module 4 Unit 12 The giant’s garden, 本单元设计以学生为主体,以故事整体框架为基础,以故事背景为语用情景,以故事主人公Giant的变化为线索,层层推进故事的冲突,挖掘故事的寓意,引导学生积极思考,联系生活经验在活动中开展对故事的理解、学习、交流和表演。本单元设计为四个课时。通过学习故事进行语言的训练、思维的锻炼以及情感价值的培养。
基于故事情节,我们将本单元划分为四课时,进行单元整体设计。它们分别是;
课时一:The angry giant
课时二:The sad giant
课时三:The happy giant
课时四:The sharing giant
第一课时的内容文本为故事第一至三幅图。通过对故事人物以及图片的排序梳理整个故事的情节,让学生能把握故事的整体走向,为后续学习做铺垫。对第一至第三幅图的处理,主要围绕故事的主要冲突——“墙”,通过问题引导学生在文中找到答案,完成“故事墙”,同时了解故事的冲突,人物角色的心理活动以及不同情境下的语言表达。把故事中巨人和小孩的冲突和实际生活联系起来,在故事中培养解决问题的能力,渗透友好互助、解放思维、冲破种族界限,和平友爱的情怀。
第二课时的内容文本为故事第四至第六幅图。这节课中重点引导孩子们观察对比城堡内与外的不同景象,体会巨人伤心的情绪并深入分析巨人产生心理活动的原因。为了让孩子们更能体会故事人物的情感,进而对这三幅图的故事文本进行了升级,设计Miss Summer与Miss Autumn 这两位角色的活动,使城堡内外的景色与活动形成了鲜明的对比,也引导学生形成正确的价值观,要学会善待他人。
第三课时的内容文本为故事的第七至第九幅图。这是故事的转折点,也是故事的高潮部分。故事当中giant的情感变化是本课时的重点,也是难点。完成了对于第一、第二课时的回顾之后,教师引导孩子们对giant的情感分析,为后续学习做铺垫,通过总分总的次序带领孩子们学习故事文本,重点引导孩子们对比并深入体会giant前后情感的变化,明白故事的寓意。在此基础上,教师引导孩子们拓展sharing的生活意义,从文本故事寓意延伸到生活实际,养成孩子们正确的情感价值观。
第四课时的内容文本为整个故事,即图一至图九,本课时引导孩子们把故事改编成课本剧,第一幕设计孩子们未经巨人同意擅自进入花园玩耍,在花园里追逐打闹很吵闹,因此惹怒巨人的情境,引出给孩子们的建议: The children should be polite. 第二幕设计巨人感到孤独和难过的内心独白,描述巨人在春天能做和喜欢做的事情,与凄冷的冬天形成鲜明的对比,凸显巨人对春天的渴望,引出给巨人的建议:The giant shouldn’t be selfish. 第三幕设计巨人感谢孩子们把春天带回了花园的对话,并总结出Sharing makes the giant happy. 本课时通过设计人物对话将纯文本型的故事改编成一个生动有趣的课本剧,从前三课时的学故事到本课时的编剧本,再到课后作业的演剧本,逐步加深学生对于故事以及故事背后所呈现的“Being polite and sharing make the world wonderful!”的理解。

I can... I like... But now I can do nothing.”的句式加入巨人的内心独白,借此来分析巨人为什么孤单,从而认识到分享的重要性,Sharing is important. Sharing makes the giant happy. 第三幕加入巨人感谢孩子们的对话,升华主题“Being polite and Sharing make the world wonderful!”
