He used his knife to cut off half his right arm.

“Between a Rock and a Hard Place 是一本书的书
名， 可译作《生死两难》。其本身是英语中的
一个固定习语，表示在艰难或危险的处境下“从
两难中进行选择”， 意为“ 左右为难；进退两难”

2）a difficult situation that you cannot seem to get out of 和a decision that could mean life or death 均为定语从句。在前者中，从句that you cannot seem to get out of 修饰名词situation;
在后者中，从句that could mean life or death 修饰decision。

be used to 意为“习惯于”，其中to是介词，其后要接名词或V-ing形式。
