He used his knife to cut off half his right arm.

Between a Rock and a Hard Place.

“Between a Rock and a Hard Place 是一本书的书
名, 可译作《生死两难》。其本身是英语中的
一个固定习语,表示在艰难或危险的处境下“从
两难中进行选择”, 意为“ 左右为难;进退两难”

2)a difficult situation that you cannot seem to get out of 和a decision that could mean life or death 均为定语从句。在前者中,从句that you cannot seem to get out of 修饰名词situation;
在后者中,从句that could mean life or death 修饰decision。

be used to 意为“习惯于”,其中to是介词,其后要接名词或V-ing形式。
