Analysis of textbook The content of this period belongs to PEP Book II for grade six. Part B Read and write is the fifth period of Unit 2. The topic is Comments. Students should mainly know the basic rules about verbs’ past tense. Meanwhile students can fill in the blanks. They can imagine the following plot to write a letter to express their apologies. We should develop students’ language further and foster their thoughts.
Analysis of students Students have learnt the basic rules about verbs’ past tense in part A and B. Students can get the main idea of this comments with the help of the picture. Students have rich imagination. They can share their ideas with us. Students can develop their language according to their imagination. They can use pictures and simple sentences to write a letter to the Wu family. Or they can write a short passage. Different students in different levels can develop their language and ability by learning this story.
Teaching aims 1. Enable students to know some basic knowledge about living in a hotel and what a comment is. 2. Enable students to read the comment and get the main idea, at the same time, they can guess the meaning of the word - comments in the context. 3. Students can finish the exercises and get a certain ability of learning English, especially improve their writing ability. 4. Know more about simple past tense. And retell the text with the help of mind map. 5. Enable students to imagine the following plot and imagine the following plot to write a letter to express their apologies. We should develop students’ language further and foster their thoughts.

Presentation Lead in: word-housekeeper Guess what does she do ( She watched TV yesterday. She cleaned the room yesterday. She worked in a school yesterday. She taught(教) English yesterday. ) First guess the word teacher, then doctor or nurse, the last one is housekeeper. Ss guess the jobs by reading the simple past tense sentences and try to pronounce the word ”housekeeper” by looking at the word they already knew-goalkeeper. Learn more about simple past tense and get to know Mrs Broom.
Show the word comments Tell the Chinese meaning by showing pictures 3. Ask ss to give comments by looking at the hotel picture Know something about comments. Give correct comments according to the pictures A lead in for the comment letter.
While reading: Ask ss to read the text and finish task 1 Ss read the text quietly and underline the sentences that describe picture1 to 3 Ss can get a general idea of the text.
First reading: Read the text sentence by sentence(Ss preview the text and circle the verbs) Ss catch the verbs in the sentences and say it out loud. Then change them from present tense to past tense or past tense to present tense Collecting verbs in different form.
Teach the pronunciation of some verbs in past tense Fixed, listened, wanted, got, cleaned, tasted Ss follow teacher to learn the pronunciation of the verbs The ss can read the words correctly then can read the text correctly.
Second reading: Help the students to do the exercise correctly Ss read the text carefully and finish the exercise. Ss can learn more about the text and improve the reading skills, and also gets higher marks in test.
8. Ask ss to read the text in groups and learn the pronunciation of words Ss help each other to learn the pronunciation and read together, then show to the others. Practice reading
Practice 1. Show the mind map help students to retell the text. Ss retell the text by looking at the mind map Remember more phrases and try to make sentences with the given words.(retelling)
2. Ask ss to write an email to tell the manager Ss finish the writing of P19 Practice writing.
consolidation Ask ss to write an email back to the Wu family Ss pretend to be the manager and write to the Wu family Ss can learn to solve problems after writing the email

Meanwhile pay attention to the form of a letter. Or you can read the comments or Mrs Broom’s letter. It’s up to you. Teaching reflection The class is finished fluently. I think the design of the class is reasonable. The students are very active and I also think they did a very good job. The can master the lesson and they can read and understand and write after learning. They can retell the text by looking at the mind map. Learning by students themselves is really a good way for teaching. But I didn’t use the blackboard well and I also didn’t use the projector to show students’ writing. That’s a pity. Hopefully I can did better job next time. And learn more about using mind map and making mind map.
