5. 句型“I’m afraid (that) +从句”的用法
I’m afraid (that) +从句,意为“恐怕我……”,表示委婉语气,常用于有礼貌地拒绝别人。
【拓展】
(1)在口语中经常使用“I’m afraid so.”意为“恐怕是这样。”或“I’m afraid not.”意为“恐怕不是 (这样)。”
(2)be afraid of sb. / sth.意为“害怕某人 / 某事”。
