二、完形填空。(共10小题;每小题1分,满分10分)
Living and dealing with kids can be a hard job these days, but living and dealing with parents can be even harder.
If I have learned anything in my fifteen years, it is that 1 is very important when you get along. You need to let other persons know how you are feeling. When you are mad at your parents or anyone else, 2 to them doesn't solve anything.
When you come home from school, you can't just go up to your room and don't 3 anyone. Even if you just say "Hi" and see how their day was for five minutes, it is better than 4 .
If you looked up. the word "communication" in a 5 , it would say "the exchange of ideas". Let people know how you feel, even if it's just 6 writing a note.
When dealing with parents, you always have to 7 them feel good about how they are doing as
parents. If you are trying to make them see the things as you see it, tell them that you'll listen to what
they have to say, but ask them 8 to listen to you. Shouting or walking away only makes the situation worse.
In fact, communication isn't a one-way deal: It goes 9 ways. Just remember: Tell the other person how you feel. 10 , listening to others is another key factor to communication.
( )1. A. education B. character C. choice D. communication
( )2. A. don't talk B. no talking C. not talking D. not talk

( )6. A. with B. in C. by D. through
( )7. A. get B. force C. help D. make
( )8. A. politely B. quietly C. loudly D. quickly
( )9. A. both B. all C. either D. neither
( )10. A. In other words B. In all C. At the same time D. After all
三、阅读理解。(共12小题;每小题2分,满分24分)
A
Are we humans alone in space Scientists have been working on this question for a long time. And recently, new discoveries offer more hope that some forms of life existed on Mars in the past, and
perhaps are still there at present.
According to a new report in the book Science, the Mars Explorer Curiosity has found more methane(甲烷) in the Martian air. It might suggest the possibility of life.
During the last 20 months, Curiosity has found methane many times, and four of them, it tested at a level 10 times higher than usual. "It's a great increase," said Christopher Webster, the lead scientist.
This new finding has made a big change. In September 2013, Curiosity found almost no sign of
methane on Mars. Just weeks later, however, the explorer picked up the gas.
Methane is also found in the Earth's air and comes from animal and plant life, as well as from the
environment itself. If there's methane in Mars' air, where does it come from Scientists aren't sure.
"There are many possible sources, such as actions between water and rock," guessed Sushil, a scientist of the Curiosity team.
But the scientists have left the possibility open that microbes (微生物) could be the methane's
source. Also, for the first time, Curiosity found other organisms (有机体) in the rocks of Mars.
Organisms are thought to be the basis to form life. Scientists aren't sure where these organisms come
from. They could either have formed on Mars or landed on Mars by meteorites(陨石).
For the next three years, Curiosity will keep looking for more organisms in rocks and exploring
Mars.
( )1. Where did Curiosity recently find methane
A. In the Martian air.
B. In the air on Earth.
C. In rocks on Mars.
D. In the water on Mars.
( )2. Scientists predict that there might be life on Mars because .
A. methane is a sign of life
B. astronauts sent to Mars have seen signs of life
C. the Mars explorer has taken some photos of animals
D. the environment on Mars is similar to that on Earth
( )3. From the last two paragraphs, we learn that .
A. scientists are sure to have found life on Mars
B. methane is the basis to form life
C. there are no rocks or water on Mars
D. there is more to learn about Mars
B
For people who are interested in space, nothing is more exciting than the idea of life on other planets. At first, when Mars showed signs of having life, everyone was excited. The idea has inspired many films and stories including The Martian (《火星救援》) , which shows a man struggling to survive
on Mars. But would it actually be possible to live there
While the idea of living on Mars is great, the reality does not look as good. Mars does not have a
friendly atmosphere(大气) for humans. There is very little oxygen(氧气) there, and because of its distance from the Sun, it is also very cold. The temperature on Mars can be -62°C on average. This is much too cold for humans.
However, scientists say it might be possible to live there without an atmosphere. Mars has a similar amount of daytime to the Earth, which means there's enough sunlight to grow plants inside safe
buildings. However, they would have to grow in soil from the Earth. Mars does not have a strong enough atmosphere to stop the radiation from space, which makes it dangerous to grow things in the soil on Mars.
Also, the radiation causes problems for our health. One way we could survive the radiation and cold temperatures would be to build homes under the ground or within the rocks on the planet. These would give humans the heat and protection the planet doesn't have.
Although it's a long time before we would be able to live on Mars, NASA(美国国家航空航天局) is hoping to make some progress within the next 20 years.
( )4. The film The Martian is mentioned Ln Paragraph l to .

In 1987, a small company named HUAWEI was started in Shenzhen. After more than 30 years of
development, the company has now beaten Apple and become the world's second-largest maker or smartphones behind SAMSUNG in Republic of Korea. It has also become the world's largest supplier of 5G.
But recently, HUAWEI faced some difficulties. The American government ordered a ban(禁令) on its sales in America. American officials said HUAWEI gave information that it collected to the Chinese government. At the same time, the American government planned to stop selling parts and services to HUAWEI, which was believed that HUAWEI's business would be hurt.
"We have never received such a request from the Chinese government and we have never tried to get into other systems to collect information, " Ren Zhengfei, HUAWEI's founder and president said. "The ban from the US would have little effect on our company. HUAWEI has enough ability to deal with the problems," Ren added.
In an interview several years ago, Ren Zhengfei said,。‘I started HUAWEI with only£4, 000 in the beginning, but now it has become a $100 billion company. The experience was not as romantic as you imagine. "
Facing the ban of the US, HUAWEI is growing. HUAWEI's smartphone sales around the world rose 50 per cent compared with a year earlier in the first three months of 2019. At the same time, sales from both SAMSUNG and Apple fell. So far, HUAWEI has grown into the world's largest telecommunication equipment(电信设备) supplier, selling in 170 countries. The search for life outside the Earth may ha\re moved to a new and exciting level. A team of
astronomers(天文学家) said they have found a new planet that has many important parts similar to
those of the Earth.
The planet, which travels around a red dwarf(红矮星) called Gliese 581, has the right size and temperature. Most importantly, the planet lies in the suitable living area of the star, which makes the planet not too hot or too cold.
Scientists say the new world, Gliese 581, is five times larger than the Earth. It may have water since it is in the right place for the red dwarf to survive in space.
Swiss scientist Michel Mayor said, "It is an important step on the way to find possible life in space and there are still lots of questions."
For more than ten years, astronomers and scientists have been keeping their eyes on space in search for another Earth, another world that can support life or already has it.
According to the records, the first discovery of extrasolar(在太阳系之外的) planet going around a normal star was made in 1995. Since then, the number of newly discovered worlds has increased to about 200. But they are just dead with lifeless bodies.
Gliese 581 came into our eyes and mankind has reason to celebrate. After all, we may have living
neighbours. The discovery doesn't promise much, but it offers hope that there could be other people or
living things out there.
