Peter, could you please take out the trash? 彼得，请你把垃圾拿出去好吗？
could 是情态动词can的一般过去式，但在本句中表示委婉的请求或建议，意为“能，可以”。could 用作此用法时没有时态的概念。在“Could you…?”句型中，please 可位于句中或句尾，即可以说“Could you please …?” 或“Could you …, please?” 肯定回答可以用“Sure / Of course / Certainly”, 否定回答常用“Sorry, I can’t. I have to do … / I’m going to do …”.
另外，此结构的否定句是直接在动词原形前加not。
e.g. --- Could you please clean your room? ---Yes, sure.
e.g. --- Could you help me make the bed, please?
--- Sorry, I can’t. I have to do my homework.
e.g. Could you please not make so much noise? The baby is sleeping.
e.g. Could you please not tell him about it ?
拓展：Could I…? 表示请求得到对方的允许/ 许可，意思是“我可以…吗?”这种疑问句无论肯定回答还是否定回答，都要避免使用could。肯定回答常用Yes, you can.否定回答常用Sorry/ No, you can’ t.等。

1. I hate to do chores. 我讨厌做家务。
hate作动词，与like意义相反，意为“憎恨，憎恶，讨厌”，没有进行时态，
其后接名词、代词、动词-ing以及动词不定式等。.

辨析：hate to do sth多指一次性、具体的活动。
hate doing sth多指经常性的、习惯性的活动。

（1）相同点: 二者均有“做”的意思。

Mr. Read works in a hospital. He's a good doctor but he often forgets thing.
