Unit3 lesson 1

I. Teaching aims:
1. Knowledge aims
(1) to enable the students to understand and speak six new words of friends, long hair, short hair, thin, strong and quiet.
(2) to enable the students to understand and speak two sentences:
My friend is thin/strong/quiet. My friend has long hair/short hair.
2. Ability aims
(1) to develop the Ss’ speaking ability to introduce their friends.
(2) to encourage the students cooperate well in their studies.
3. Moral aims
to arouse the students’ interest of learning English and to have them participate actively in language communication.
II. Teaching key and difficult points:
teaching key points: to grasp the six new words and two sentence patterns.

1. improve Ss’ speaking ability to introduce their friends.
2. develop their lateral thinking through games .

VI. Teaching Procedure
Step 1Warm-up
To arouse Ss’ interest, play a song “let’s chant” on the computer, let the students be familiar with the phrase “ tall,short,long…”
Step 2 Lead-in
First, ask Ss how to describe someone strong and thin after reviewing the words: tall and short. It is aimed to introduce the new words. Then, let Ss look at screen, and say:strong, strong, he is strong/thin. The followings are doing like this.
Step 3 Practice
First, spell the new words and pay attention to their pronunciation. In this step, Ss can read and spell them one by one or in pairs. Then, let Ss copy these words by imitating me. Pay attention to how to write it right.
Step 4 Extension
First, I will be a model and present how to introduce your friend, for example: My friend is a boy/girl. He/She is strong/thin. He/She has big eyes and …Who is he/she? I will choose two Ss and ask Ss to guess who he/she is. Then, ask Ss to practice it.
Step 5 let’s find out
Finish off this task on page 28.
Step 6 Sum up
Summary the key words and sentences we have learnt in this class.
Step7 Homework
Introduce your friends to your mum and dad.
