Last summer, my friends Jimmy, Terry and I went on a four-day trip to Taipei, and
we had a great time there. We flew to Taipei and arrived at the city in the afternoon.
After a short break, we started our Taipei trip from Huaxi Street Night Market. There
we enjoyed some delicious Chinese food. The next morning, we went to the Water
Park and spent a day enjoying different kinds of fun water activities. On the third day,
we visited two museums, the National Museum of History and Fine Arts Museum.
Then we took a trip to Longshan Temple on the fourth day. Longshan Temple is an
old temple dating back to the early 18th century. We were amazed at the
beautifully-designed buildings. At night, we went shopping in Taipei 101, which was
the second tallest building in the world. The next morning, we flew back home. It was
a tiring but thrilling journey.

W:
The United States Highway 66 was established on November 11th, 1926. Then it
became the most famous road in America. In the 1960s, Americans watched a popular
television series called Route 66. It was a story of two young men driving across the
country. The show was filmed in cities and towns across America. Yet, only a few
shows were filmed on the real Route 66. In real life, people were getting fewer and
fewer kicks on Route 66. By 1962, part of the road was closed because of being in
poor condition. The federal government was building bigger highways. Cars and
trucks could travel at higher speed. People started driving on these new interstate
highways instead of the old Route 66. Finally, in 1985, Route 66 was officially
removed from the national highway system. People have formed groups to save parts
of the old 66 and many of the interesting places to eat, stay and see along the way.

An Unforgettable Experience
Looking back on the past three years, everyone had some unforgettable
experiences.
The most unforgettable experience for me is a speech competition. It made a big
difference in my life.
One day, my teacher asked me to join a speech competition. Though I didn’t think I
could make a perfect speech, I took part in it. It took me three days to prepare for the
speech. On the speech competition day, students made speech one by one. I was so
nervous that my hand became wet. My teacher looked at me and said “Take it easy,
you can do it.” It was time for me to make a speech. When I stood in front of all
students and teachers, I was too nervous to say anything. I was afraid of making
mistakes and students would laugh at me. To my surprise, they clapped hands and
cheered me up. Then I remembered my teacher’s words. Both of them gave me a lot
of energy and confidence. Finally, I tried my best to make a perfect speech.
This experience not only made me confident but also let me realize my teacher’s
care for me. Because of the competition, I became more confident.
