The Analysis of the article The unit is about sport. This lesson is from Unit 5, Module 3, Oxford English Grade 9B. The main reading text is about a girl’s unforgettable experience of skiing. The text gives a situation where a girl first experiences skiing and tries her best to manage the skiing skills. She fails at first but she keeps on trying and finally gets her success. Meanwhile, it provides chances for students to have a taste of using certain language to show feelings instead of expressing directly.
The Analysis of the students Grade 9 students have a better understanding of the structure of the passage. They are curious about the world, different people and different lifestyles. However, skiing is not a common sport for our students. They may not be familiar with this kind of sport, so they probably have difficulty in the vocabulary concerning the sport. Luckily, they are able to overcome the difficulty in vocabulary with the help of the pictures.
Teaching objectives By the end of the lesson, students will be able to 1. comprehend the article about a skiing trip; 2. understand the feelings of the character through certain words and expressions; 3. admire the spirit of never giving up.
