Knowing how to communicate well needs very personal attention between you and another human being. Is there a better way to learn how to communicate effectively Yes, there is. Please follow the 3 basic steps below.
Relax and breath
Whether it's a business meeting or a first date the first thing you must do in order to communicate is to relax.
When you relax you are in control. You control your reactions and your reactions do not control you. Breathing is central to relaxation. Take a few deep breaths and your body will begin to be more at ease. This will help you apply what you already know about how to communicate well.
Think and you will be prepared
Have you ever heard the old saying "think before you speak" Well, it is true. By thinking ahead about how the conversation might flow you will be better prepared, more at ease and more confident.
Follow the flow of the conversation
If you are uncomfortable, being silent will only make it worse and make the other person uncomfortable as well. So when all else fails, follow through with small talk until a common topic appears.
A good way to keep a conversation going is to ask the other person questions. People love to talk about themselves and if you do this they will leave the conversation thinking very highly of you. Learning good communication skills is not something out of reach. If you make an effort, you will succeed.

D. Because no one likes to communicate with a nervous person.
4. If you feel uncomfortable, you'd better ________.
A. keep silence in order to give the chance of speaking to others
B. speak freely so as to run across the topic you like
C. talk small things until you find a topic you both like
D. ask questions which you are interested in

Kenyon Scudder once told me a story about his friend, Michael. Michael happened to be on a train sitting next to a young man who seemed worried. Finally the young man told Michael that he was a convict(罪犯) returning home from a distant prison. His behaviour had brought shame(羞耻) on his family, and they had neither visited him nor written. He hoped, however, that this was only because they were too poor to travel and too busy to write.
When he was set free, he had written to tell them he wanted to go home. To make matters easy for them, however, he had asked them to put up a signal for him when the train passed their little farm. If the family had forgiven him, they were to put up a white ribbon(丝带) in the big apple tree near the railway. If they didn't want him back, they were to do nothing, and he would stay on the train, and go far away.
As the train neared his hometown, his suspense became so great that he was afraid to look out of the window. He asked Michael to watch for the big apple tree. They changed seats. In a minute, Michael put his hand on the young convict's shoulder. "There it is," he said, his eyes filled with sudden tears. "It's all right. The whole tree is white with ribbons."
1. For which of the following reasons might the young man be worried
A. He might not be allowed to go home.
B. He was afraid his family would not remember him.
C. His family hadn't written to him often.
D. His family hadn't visited him for a long time.
2. According to the passage, the white ribbon in the big apple tree means _____.
A. pleasure B. forgiveness
C. happiness D. education
3. The word "suspense" underlined in the last paragraph can best be replaced by "_____".
A. pain B. interest C. worry D. happiness
4. Why was Michael asked to watch for the apple tree
A. The young man was afraid that he was refused by his family.
B. The young man's seat was far from the window.
C. The young man was afraid of seeing the white ribbons in the tree.
D. The young man was sure that his family would accept him.
C
I'd just finished some shopping, and was getting ready to leave the supermarket's parking lot, when I heard music coming from the area of the shopping carts(购物车). I knew it was someone I knew, well—the beggar, I couldn't really call him.
He never begged. It was more like he was open to accepting presents. He never had a sign out, never spoke and never looked at you to beg. He would just sit quietly on the side of the entrance, out of the way, have a little box outside, and thank everyone very politely who gave him something.
He didn't look like the many people I knew in my town who lived on the streets. His clothes always looked quite clean. I often wondered how he'd gotten to live on the streets. And he was playing his guitar, just like the last time I'd seen him in summer. He hadn't noticed me then, being so deep into his music.
I started to talk to him. He told me that he had been an epileptic(癫痫患者) as a child and as a young man now, and he couldn't even get the job the social services try to offer people like him—everybody seemed afraid of the duty, even though he'd had no seizure (发作) for the past 13 years.
I started feeling sorry for him, but then he said, "I've made my peace with that. I'm happy I got an apartment," He said he'd gotten so much help, and he wanted to try to give back, starting with the music.
I was so happy that he remembered his love for music, and shared his music with the people passing by. I was glad he found an apartment, and had the inner strength not to let himself down, and as he said, "found my faith again".
1.In the author's opinion, what made the man different from other homeless men
A. He only wanted gifts.
B. He could write music.
C. He always begged near a shop.
D. He always wore clean clothes.
2. Why was the young man unable to find a job
A. Because he was too weak to work.
B. Because he considered music to be his job.
C. Because others misunderstood his illness.
D. Because bosses were short of responsibility.
3. What was the young man's attitude towards his present situation
A.Doubtful. B. Grateful. C.Unconcerned. D.Disappointed.

阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude.
Growing up, I wanted to be just like my mom. Kind and caring, she always seemed to make people comfortable in her presence. For years she was a volunteer in our community. I loved going to the local nursing home to help with her until I hit my preteen years. Suddenly, I was too caught up in my adolescent world to worry about helping others.
One particular summer day when I was twelve, Mom came into my room and told me to get up and meet her at the car. I had planned to spend the day at the lake with friends. Why did she have to ruin everything Eventually, I made my way outside. I imagined the lake water cooling my skin. Annoyed, I climbed into the car and slammed the door shut. I sat in silence, too upset to make a conversation.
"Tasha, would you like to know where we are going " Mom asked calmly.
"I guess...", I murmured under my breath.
"Sweetheart, we are going to a children’s shelter, I have been there before and I think it would benefit you," she explained.
I felt a knot slowly form in my stomach. How was I supposed to help there
When we reached the shelter, I was rather surprised. It was a large white Victorian home. As we approached the large front porch, wind bells played a calming tune while trees and blossoms welcomed us. Maybe this wasn’t going to be so bad.
Mom rang the doorbell. The door flew open and we were led to the front room, where all of the children were playing. Toys were spread out across the floor. I noticed a baby whose body was scarred with wounds. The majority of the children had noticeable physical scars(伤疤) such as cuts, scratches and burns. What a terrible life they had before they moved here! My heart sank.

Dear Su Ru,
I'm sorry to know that you're having trouble in making friends. Here are some tips for you.
To begin with, be friendly to others and get on with them frankly if you want to make friends. In addition, you should share happiness and sorrow with them. A saying goes that a friend in need is a friend indeed. When misunderstanding occurs, you should apologise to your friend as long as it is your fault. Lastly, wouldn't it be a good idea if you put yourself in others' shoes As is known to all, friendship calls for time and effort.
I hope you will find these ideas useful.
Yours,
Li Hua
第二节
答案:
As I was looking around, I felt a gentle pull on my shirt. I looked down to see a little girl with brown eyes looking up at me. Her angelic face beamed, though, as I could see, there were some scars on her little arms. "Hi. I’m Ashley. You wanna play dolls with me " she asked. I looked over and saw Mom nodding to me with a smile. I bent toward Ashley and whispered, "Sure. I’d love to." Her tiny hand reached up and took mine, and we walked toward the doll house. Our time together brought her great joy and fun and she also made my day.
I returned to the shelter with Mom several times. During those visits, some of the children including Ashley shared their troubled pasts with me in great detail. I felt sore for what had happened to them and treasured the friendship between us. I would like to do everything in my power to help the children there. At the same time, I learned to be grateful for all that I had. It was a profound time in my young life that I will never forget. It was Mom who taught me the valuable lesson that summer.
