Lesson 3 A Visit to Xi’an
一、教材分析
本单元主要围绕“旅行”展开话题。教材以丝绸之路为背景,为学生创设了了解中国其他城市的环境。帮助学生练习并掌握在新环境中如何用英语介绍一个城市的标志以及特色。增进了学生们对于祖国的了解与热爱。
本课“A Visit to Xi’an” 是一篇游记性质的英语课文,抓住西安历史文化名城的特点,介绍了西安的名胜古迹和美食,使学生在掌握英语知识的同时也对西安这个古城有一定的了解。
二、教学目标
语言技能:能用自己的语言介绍出一个城市的特色,标志性建筑,了解西安的文化。
掌握一些基本词汇的用法:
welcome to, climb up, hit the drum, ring the bell, ancient, No photos!
三、情感态度:
1)激发学生热爱祖国,了解祖国的热情。
2) 激发学生学习英语的兴趣。
四、教学重点,难点:introduce some places of interest of Xi’an in English
五、教学准备:录音机, 图片,多媒体
六、教学步骤
Step I Greeting.(5’)
From the short introduction of myself, let the students know my name and my school, tell them I want to make friends with them and I am willing to be their tour guide if they have a chance to visit my school.
(Purpose: make the students relaxed and be familiar with me, teach the new words tour guide at the same time)
Step II New concepts
1. Show some pictures of interesting places in Xi’an to teach the students the new words and the text in Part 1 and some of text in Part 2:(18’)
the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, hit the drum, ring the bell, the Terra Cotta Warriors, dish, pit, No photos!
(Purpose: From the pictures, help the students to have a visit to Xi’an. This is an enjoyable way to help the students to remember the features of interesting place. Teaching Part 1 and some of Part 2 at the same time is to integrate the teaching material)
2. Listen to the tape and fill in the blanks.(5’)
3. Read Part 2 in roles and answer the questions. What does Danny want to do Can he do it (6’)
(Purpose: Reading in roles makes the reading more interesting. While reading, train the students to have the ability to look for the key information.)
4. Accoring to some guide words, encourage the students to be tour guides and introduce the places of interest in Xi’an.(8’)
(Purpose: encourage the students to be tour guide, this way can not only make the students understand the text well, but also help the students to put the knowledge into practice.)
