一、阅读理解。
(2022高二下·竞赛)阅读理解
There are as many kinds
of careers as there are people. They vary greatly in the type of work involved(涉及) and in the ways they influence a person's life. The kind of career
you have can affect your life in many ways. By making wise decisions concerning
your career, you can help yourself build the life you want. To do that, you need
as much information as possible. The more you know about yourself, the better able
you will be to choose a satisfying career.
What do people hope to
obtain from a career Some people desire a high income. Some hope for fame. Others
seek for adventure. Still others intend to serve people and make the world a better
place. Before you begin to explore career fields, you should determine your values,
your interests, and your aptitudes that will make you competent for your future
work. Most people are happiest in jobs that fit their values, interests, and skills.
Each person has many values, which vary in strength. For example, money is the strongest
value for some people—that is, wealth is more
important to them than anything else. As a result, they focus their thoughts, behaviour,
and emotions on the goal of earning a high income. Other values include devoting
to religion, taking risks, spending time with family, and helping others.
Before making a career
decision, you can ask yourself what is most important to you and examine your beliefs
to better know your values. For example, is it important to you to work as a member
of a team Or would you rather be in charge or work alone If working alone or being
in charge is important to you, independence is probably one of your primary values.
1.How can we make a wise career decision
A.We learn more about ourselves.
B.We stick to our beliefs more firmly.
C.We change our interests more often.
D.We find more career opportunities.
2.According to the writer, what should a satisfying career focus on
A.Bringing huge wealth. B.Meeting inner demands.
C.Developing interests and skills. D.Contributing to forming values.
3.What does the writer convey to us in the last paragraph
A.The contents of our values. B.The foundations of our values.
C.The places to achieve our values. D.The ways to understand our values.

Twenty-five years ago,
most young Britons wanted a career in law, to be a doctor, or, if they were creative
enough, to take up singing. But today, things stand differently.
According to a survey by
Tesco Mobile, a UK company, the "dream job" of young people aged between
16 and 25 in the UK is a video blogger, or "vlogger". The survey, carried
out among 1,002 people, found that as much as 40 percent of them put vlogger as
their number one choice on a list of ideal careers.
This change is undoubtedly
as a result of the Internet and social media. They have made it so much easier to
reach audience of the world, without having to enter a career in show business in
the traditional way.
In the past, the biggest
stars were trained by the Hollywood studios; now, anyone with a computer camera
can become a star. Vloggers are the big stars of today because they are normal people
interacting with their fans about everyday life.
However, what people see
is only the bright side of being a vlogger and they fail to notice the fact that
only those who are successful earn fame and fortune. For every success there are
hundreds of others who never get off the starting line. There are the dreams that
come true and the dreams that remain dreams forever.
Although being vloggers
is popular, some young people choose to follow careers that don't necessarily earn
them fame, but allow them to make good use of the Internet to share their hobbies.
Young Israeli David Leshaw, for example, runs a business called the Finishers Club.
It's an online platform for runners to keep a record of their races. His job allows
him to express his enthusiasm, and is always a learning experience. And that's enough
for him.
4.What is the passage mainly about
A.Most young Britons choose to be vloggers as their job.
B.The Internet is influencing young Britons' career choice.
C.The Internet is taking the place of traditional studios.
D.Young Britons can not find jobs without the Internet.
5.Why do more and more young Britons choose to be vloggers
A.Vloggers can earn little fame and money on the Internet.
B.There is too much competition in the traditional show business.
C.The Internet makes it convenient to become vloggers.
D.Anyone with a computer will surely become a star.
6.What can we infer from paragraph 5
A.Only a few vloggers can be successful.
B.A vlogger can not earn fame or fortune.
C.People often see the bright side of being a vlogger.
D.Dreams will always remain to be dreams.
7.What do young people like David do on the Internet
A.Learn from others. B.Become an online hit.
C.Hold running races. D.Mix jobs with hobbies.

Exploring work possibilities
is quite an emotional challenge for people. The desire to simplify the process by
focusing on one attractive option, instead of keeping your eyes open for even more
possibilities to add to your list, can be very strong. Naturally, we'd rather make
a decision and get on with our lives. 8. However, putting off a decision until after you
have done your detective work can pay off in ways you can't even imagine now. So,
learn to explore work possibilities as though it was a treasure hunt.
Uncertainty is not the
only challenge holding you back. 9. You may be unwilling to ask strangers about their
work or to ask your colleagues for help because you fear rejection. Or, you may
fear failure. Don't let these fears block your search. Remember that one definition
of success is "doing your very best to realise your dreams". 10.
There are three ways to
learn about work possibilities that you already know exist and to discover more
possibilities.
●The easiest
and quickest way is to read career information materials available on the Internet,
in newspapers and magazines.
● 11. They can give you an "insider's
opinion". Spend your time with people as constructively as possible by asking
about the local situation or other things not covered in print materials.
●The best
way to learn about the work is to "try it on for size" by getting some
related experience.
 12. That greatly increases your ability to "mix
and match" information later on to discover, or even create, work possibilities
that would be ideal for you.
A.
Identify your own ability.
B.
Explore as many options as possible.
C.
We wouldn't like to live with uncertainty.
D.
The only way you can fail is to do nothing.
E.
Talk to people who are knowledgeable about the work.
F.
The following is what you should do to explore work possibilities.
G.
Fear is most likely the biggest emotional challenge to successful career building.

(2022高二下·竞赛)阅读理解
【答案】4.B

(2022高二下·竞赛)任务型阅读
G.
Fear is most likely the biggest emotional challenge to successful career building.

and as each friend or acquaintance stopped to study the grocery list, I approached.
"Would you be interested in subscribing to LosAngelesMagazine and investing(投资) in my career as a freelance writer " Two days at the market resulted
in my gathering twenty-five checks made out to the magazine.
I was now armed. I once
again marched into the magazine office. "You again," sighed the receptionist.
I explained that I was delivering twenty-five new checks and trusted that the editor
might be willing to see me. The receptionist walked back into the inner sanctum(内室) and I heard a booming laugh. He would see me! He was curious enough
to want to meet me.
As I put the twenty-five
checks and a typed list of subscriber addresses on his desk, the amazed editor said,
"We assigned a political story to a writer who can't deliver. We need the article
three days from now. If you can get an outline to us by Monday, you have yourself
an assignment."
Armed with a camera and
notepad(笔记本), I gathered information all
day and wrote on Saturday and Sunday night. By Monday morning, everything was ready.
Finally, at 5 p.m., the editor called. It was a go!
