In Caroline’s eyes, her dog Sam means more. This special dog has completely changed her life.
Caroline had some hearing loss when she was a child, but she lived a normal life. However, when she was in her twenties, her hearing loss got worse and even simple conversations (交谈) could be very tiring. Since then, she has lived in a quiet world with no sound.
One day when Caroline was shopping in a shop, suddenly she found she was the only person there. All the other people left as soon as the fire alarm rang. But she didn’t hear it at all. She knew that it was the time for her to ask for help.
Caroline wrote to Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, a famous charity in the UK, to ask for a hearing dog. Later the hearing dog Sam came into her life.
Sam alerts (使意识到)Caroline to the alarm clock in the morning. He also alerts her to the doorbell, alarms and smoke alarms. With Sam’s help, Caroline can go out whenever and wherever she wants to go.

It’s more and more often for us to see wild animals enter cities. This gives people in cities more chances to learn about wildlife but also leads to conflicts (冲突) between people and wildlife.
In Berlin, pigs sometimes come into the city to look for food. They eat flowers and plants in parks and gardens. Some people like them and give them food and water. Other people don’t like them. They want the government and the police to stop pigs entering the city.
Animals can be dangerous when they are big enough. In Cape Town in South Africa, baboons (狒狒) come into the city when they are hungry. They go into gardens and eat fruit from trees. They even go into houses and take food from cupboards and fridges! They are big and strong animals, so they can scare people. But the city can be dangerous for baboons too. Sometimes, cars and buses kill baboons in accidents. People’s food is very bad for the baboons’ teeth because it has a lot of sugar.
People in cities need animals because nature is good for our busy brains. If we want to make our city a good place for wild animals to live in, we need to make safe ways for them to travel around the city.

句中使用了短语as…as possible,“尽可能…”,两个as之间用形容词的原级,故选A。
die死,动词原形;died过去式;have died现在完成时;will die一般将来时。
shouldn’t不应该;may not可能不;don’t have to不必,没有必要;needn’t不需要。根据句意For their great service可知,这里应表示“不应该忘记”,故选A。
这里用不定式to go 修饰the first money 做定语。
if如果,是否;because因为;after在…

sing唱歌;dance跳舞;laugh大笑;play玩;根据“which sounded beautiful”听起来很美,故选A。
room房间;playground操场;pool泳池;cage笼子;根据“We couldn’t let them live freely in the house ”所以此处是买了个笼子,故选D。
because因为(+句子);as a result结果;because of因为(+短语);so that以便;根据“our dogs and cats”是名词短语,所以用“because of”,故选C。
care关心;see看见;know知道;question问题;根据“ two parrots also sang with excitement”鹦鹉开心地唱歌,所以此处是知道,故选C。
full完整;filled满;crowded拥挤的;were是;根据“The songs of different birds outside our house ____20____ the air ”屋外各种鸟儿的歌声 空气,所以此处缺谓语动词,鹦鹉文中是一般过去时,此处应该是“filled”,故选B。
each每一;everyone每个人;both两者都;one一个;根据“When my kids were young we bought them two pet parrots ”及“He crashed into the glass”所以此处是飞出来一只,故选D。
quietly安静地;safely安全地;slowly缓慢地;loudly大声地;根据“The cats ran after him, hoping for a quick meal”猫追着他,希望能很快地吃上一顿,所以此处是安全地,故选B。
angry with对……生气;afraid of对……害怕;sorry for为…… 感兴趣;根据“I knew that no matter how comfortable their cage was, they still wanted to fly.”
also也;still仍然;never从不;hardly几乎不;根据“I knew that no matter how comfortable their cage was, they ____24____ wanted to fly.”
