As space science develops, man has learned more and more about space. Space is not only amazing but also dangerous. While working in space, spacemen are facing danger
Scientists have found out that radiation(辐射)is the greatest danger to spacemen in space. When spacemen are working in space, they are in danger of radiation from the sun and other stars, which is bad for their health. The damage done by radiation won't be discovered until their children or even grandchildren are born. Some special medicine may work a little, but no really helpful medicine has been.
Space junk is also thought a great danger to spacemen. It's reported that there are 9,000 man-made things flying in space. About 30% of these are man-made satellites(卫星),10% are spaceships, and the rest are space junk. An explosion(爆炸)in 1996 made a cloud of 300,000 fragments(碎片),each at least 4mm in size, and even a small piece of these knocked against a spaceship window and did some damage. Scientists are watching and reporting any possible danger all the time. They are working on helpful ways to do with space junk.
Although space is really dangerous, it interests everyone on the earth. In the near future, it may become usual for people to spend a few days in a space hotel. We may even choose to leave the earth and live in space for a few years. So we should care for space and do something to help improve the space environment.

In the future, people may travel to Mars(火星) by water-powered spaceship! Today’s spaceships are fine for getting things into space, but they are not so good at travelling long distances. These spaceships burn chemical fuels(燃料) and they are very expensive. Scientists say that a water-powered spaceship could make the trip to Mars much cheaper. The idea is just in the planning stages now, but scientists think such a spaceship could be developed soon.
The key to the water-powered spaceship is the engine(发动机) Regular engines push spaceships burning fuel. The water engine will use steam. Of course, the spaceship will have to carry a lot of water for the long trip to Mars. Today’s spaceships could not carry that much water. But scientists think that a spaceship blown up like a balloon will be able to do it.
One US company has already developed a spaceship like this. These spaceships are made of a strong material. Two of them have already been sent up into space, using rockets and then later filled with air “Balloon” spaceships could be very large and carry enough water for a long trip. With the “Balloon” spaceships, enough water could be carried to power the engines and grow food during the trip. And the people on the spaceship might even get to take a hot bath!
Scientists say the biggest advantage of such a spaceship would be its cost. The “Balloon” spaceship uses water to push it through space and costs about one thirtieth of a normal spaceship. Such savings naturally encourage continued research into balloon spaceships and water engines. If these scientists are correct, we may soon be on our way to Mars in a spaceship powered by water.

Venus is close to the earth. It is the second planet from the sun. The earth is the third planet from the sun. Venus is similar (相似的) to the earth in size and mass (质量). It is often described as the earth’s “sister”.
Scientists have been learning about Venus for a long time. First they looked at Venus through telescopes (望远镜). But Venus is covered with thick clouds. Scientists could not see Venus well through the clouds. So they made guesses about it.
For a long time, scientists thought that Venus had water and plants. They thought Venus might have animals too. But they didn’t know for sure.
Then scientists found a way to learn more about Venus. In the 1960s, they began sending probes (航天探测器) to Venus. The probes flew through the thick clouds. They took pictures of Venus up close. They found out many things too. The probes sent the pictures and things they found out back to the scientists.
The scientists learned a lot from the probes. First they learned that most of their guesses were not right. And they learned that Venus is very hot.
After that, scientists knew they could not send people to Venus. But they still wanted to know more about it. So they sent new probes. These new probes took great pictures of the planet. The pictures showed that Venus has plains (平原) and mountains! And in some ways, Venus looks like the earth.
根据材料内容完成下列任务。
任务一:简要回答下列问题。
1. How are Venus and the earth similar
2. Why is it hard to see Venus well through a telescope
任务二:判断正(T)误(F)。

【答案】
Outer Space Explorations, YES or NO
We had an argument over whether it was necessary to carry out outer space explorations at a class meeting the other day.
Some of us thought it was important to research the outer space because, first of all, people could get a better understanding of the outer space. Second, we could find new resources for humans to use. Third, these explorations could possibly enlarge new living space for human beings.
However, others thought very differently. They said this kind of exploration cost too much money. Besides, it was very dangerous for astronauts to do such work.
In my opinion, people should research the outer space and such explorations into the outer space are worth trying out.

31.Which of the following statements is true
A.Chinese scientists has developed the water-powered spaceships.
B.Scientists are thinking about developing water-powered spaceships.
C.It takes people a lot less money to send today’s spaceships into space.
D.Fuels-burned spaceships are much cheaper than water-powered ones.
32.The water-powered spaceships have to carry lots of water is __________.
A.to burn much water to make fuel B.just to use plenty of water in space
C.to provide enough steam for the engine D.to push spaceships to travel long distances
33.Astronauts use he rest of the water in the “Balloon” spaceships to do the followings except __________.
A.blowing up a balloon B.growing something to eat
C.taking a hot bath D.starting the engine
34.The underlined “if” in the last paragraph is about __________.
A.the planet Mars B.water as “fuel”
C.the “Balloon” spaceship D.a normal spaceship
35.What's the main purpose of this passage
A.To introduce the fuel used by different spaceships.
B.To describe the advantages of the water-powered spaceship.
C.To let people know America has invented water-powered spaceship.
D.To tell us that humans may travel to Mars by water-powered spaceship.
D
After traveling more than seven months in space, Tianwen 1 is one step closer to Mars! Tianwen 1, China’s first Mars probe, successfully entered Mars orbit (轨道) in February, according to the China National Space Administration (CNSA). It will stay in orbit for about three months before landing on the red planet.
A small step on the red planet will be a big step for human beings. Humans have launched 46 Mars exploration missions since October 1960, but only 19 of them have been successful, according to China Daily. It’s China’s first spacecraft to Mars, and the missions are rather ambitious. Tianwen 1 aims to achieve “orbiting, landing, and roving (环绕,着陆,巡视)” all in one journey, which will make the country the world’s first to achieve all three goals with one probe, mission scientists said.
Among the three tasks, touchdown on the red planet is the most difficult. The result mainly depends on the “breathtaking (惊险的) seven minutes” to make sure Tianwen 1 land safely, according to the Global Times.
February was Mars month. NASA’s Perseverance Rover (毅力号火星车) landed on Mars on Feb 19, and China’s Tianwen 1 and United Arab Emirates’ Hope Probe have arrived within orbit of the red planet. Although the three countries started their Mars journeys at almost the same time, their missions vary. Hope Probe successfully entered the orbit of Mars on Feb 9. Perseverance will collect samples (样品) of rock and soil for further research. Tianwen 1’s ultimate goal is to land a rover on Mars in May or June, and it will carry out scientific research on Mars’ soil, environment, water and so on.
“When we step into the far planets of the solar system, the magnitude (量) of the resources and timeline required will take global action,” a US official said, highlighting (强调) the importance of international cooperation (合作) in space.
36.Tianwen 1 aims to achieve ________ to set a record in Mars exploration.
A.landing a rover on the red planet
B.bringing back samples from Mars
C.staying in orbit around Mars for months
D.orbiting, landing and roving with one probe
