Beethoven's music teacher said about him,“As a composer (作曲家) he is hopeless.” What if this young boy had believed it
When Thomas Edison was a young boy,his teachers said he was so stupid that he could never learn anything. He once said,“I remember I used to be never able to get along at school. Walt Disney was once fired by a newspaper editor because he was thought to have no “good ideas”.Enrico Caruso was told by one music teacher,“You can't sing. You have no voice at all.” And an editor told Louisa May Alcott that she was unable to write anything that would have popular appeal.
What if these people had listened and become discouraged?Where would our world be without the music of Beethoven, the art of Rodin or the ideas of Albert Einstein and Walt Disney? As Oscar Levant once said,“It's not what you are but what you don't become that hurts.”

Five steps to better handwriting
Some kids love handwriting, but others hate when it’s time to put their pen to paper. Maybe they are worried about their handwriting. Are you one of them 9 Here are five steps that really work!
Get a correct grasp
Try this — hold your pencil at the top and try to write your name. Pretty hard But when you hold your pencil the correct way, writing is much easier. 10 Hold it in place with your thumb(拇指), and your index (食指) and middle fingers.
Let the lines be your guide
Lined paper is your friend! Those lines can help you create letters that are the right size and proportion (均衡). 11 Also be sure to fill up the lined space completely. Those capital letters should be from the bottom line to the top one.
Slow down
If your writing is hard to read, try slowing down a little. If you rush, it’s hard to control where you stop and start your letters.
Lower the pressure
12 That makes it harder to make the smooth lines. Try easing up and don’t hold the pencil too tightly.
13
Lots of games require you to write or draw pictures. So even though it’s not schoolwork, you’re still using the skills you need to control your pen better.
A. So “a” should be half the height of a capital “A”.
B. You’ve been writing since you were a little kid.
C. Some kids press down really hard when they write.
D. The good news is that just about everyone can improve their handwriting.
E. The best way to hold a pen or pencil is to let it rest next to the base of your thumb.
F. Play games
G. Ask for more advice

Dear Lucy,
I’d like to invite you to join us to cycle to the West Lake next Saturday on the Dragon Boat Festival.
The Dragon Boat Festival is in memory of the death of the famous ancient poet, Qu Yuan. There will be a variety of activities such as eating rice-dumplings, throwing rice-dumplings into the river and so on.

If you are able to come with us, please let us know and we’ll wait for you at the school gate at 9 in the morning.
Looking forward to your reply.
Yours,
Li Hua
