What could a poem writer and a movie director share More than you think! Langston Hughes began writing poems in high school and soon became one of America’s greatest writers. Most of his writing is about his experiences as an African American. He wrote poems about people who worked hard through life but still found things to be happy about. He wrote plays and books about justice(正义) for all people, and he wrote kids’ books, too. The Sweet and Sour Animal Book is a book of his animal poems. Pictures and photos were used in the book. “Hold fast to dreams” is a line in a famous Hughes poem. That’s exactly what he did throughout his life.
When Steven Spielberg was in middle school, he wanted to make a film. He had an idea for a movie, but no money. He started a tree-planting business and made his film with the money he earned. Spielberg never stopped making films, even after many film schools refused him. Today he is one of the most popular and important filmmakers in the world. His movies are about people who are adventurous(爱冒险的), brave, kind. His characters often fight for what is good. Some of his films are about his Jewish background, such as Schindler’s List. Spielberg once said, “I don’t dream that much at night because I dream for a living.” In different ways, both Hughes and Spielberg have encouraged people of all ages to reach for their dreams.

Can you write the Chinese characters “ganga” (embarrassment) correctly Do you know how to write characters like “tiaozhou” (broom)
If you can’t, you’re not alone. Nowadays, most people are typing into computers instead of writing on paper. We type Chinese characters largely according to their pronunciation. The result is to recognize characters without remembering how to write them.
In 2013, China Youth Daily did a survey of 2,517 people, in which 98.9 percent said they had once forgotten how to write a common Chinese character.
Compared to adults, teenagers are better at writing Chinese characters because they spend more time learning and practicing at school. However, the impact of digital technology cannot be ignored, according to He Yu, head of a research team for Chinese teaching at a Beijing high school.
“Many students are obsessed (沉迷于)with digital devices such as electronic dictionaries and computers to help with their studies. Overuse of these tools will make students too lazy to think and write,” He said. Such worries have brought about a popular TV show titled Chinese Spelling Hero, which focuses on Chinese character writing among teenagers. In April, the Ministry of Education called for better calligraphy (书法) education in schools. Organizations like the China Calligraphers Association are also working to train more teachers in calligraphy.
Interestingly, calligraphy teachers can’t always avoid the effects of modern technology. Shen Bin is a calligraphy teacher at a primary school in Beijing. She admitted that it’s common for teachers like her to forget certain words.
“The calligraphy class is also a good chance for me to remember how to write,” she said.

Is it difficult for you to remember things I’d like to tell you some ways to help improve your memory, so you shouldn’t feel upset.
My first advice is that if you want to remember something well, you have to review it regularly (有规律地). You might review the material two days after you learn it, then a week later, then two weeks later, and then a month later. After a month you will find that you can easily remember the material.
My second advice is to use a colored pen to highlight (标注) the important parts on your book. This will help you in two days. First, it will help you pay attention to the most important parts when you learn the language. It is always easier to remember only the key points. Second, this will make reviewing easier. When you open your book, the colored parts will show you the most important things quickly. In this way, you don’t have to review all the material again.
Another piece of advice is to use the proper time well. First, review all this information in your mind right before you go to sleep. Your brain is working while you are sleeping. If you think about the information before you go to sleep, you might be able to remember it better. Another good time for memorizing information is in the morning because you have just rested and your brain is fresh and clear. So you might also try to review the important information in the morning.
1.How long may it take you to remember the material easily if you review it regularly (no more than 3 words) ____________________
2.Is it easier to use a colored pen to help remember the key points (no more than 3 words)
