语态是动词的一种形式，用以表示主语和谓语之间的关系。
①当主语与谓语是主动关系，即谁做了某事时，谓语为主动语态。
②当主语与谓语是被动关系，即某事被做了时，谓语为被动语态。
只有及物动词才有被动语态。
被动语态
一、form
be done结构,随时态变化而变化。
一般现在时：
do(主动)-----am/is/are done（被动）
一般过去时：
did(主动）----was/were done（被动）

Why do we use passive voice
当我们以旁观者身份来谈论这件事情时。
可能我们不知道谁做了这件事情，也可能谁做了这件事情不重要（unimportant）。还可能做这件事的人众所周知（obvious）。

1. What does the word by in the first
three sentences tell you
It tells us who did the action. (In grammatical terms: It tells us who the agent was.)
在被动语态中，如果要强调谁做了这件事，可借助by引出宾语。
be done by sb.
2. Is there any difference in meaning
between these two sentences
Paris is visited by more than eight
million tourists every year.
More than eight million tourists visit
Paris every year.
主动语态与被动语态的转换
The focus is different. In the first sentence it is Paris which is more important. In the second sentence we are more interested in the tourists.
Example:
–The Sagrada Fimilia was designed
by an English architect (Spanish).
–No, it wasn’t. It was designed by a
Spanish architect.
