Opposite Day
Opposite Day is on January 24th each year. It is a strange but fun day. Whatever you say on this day must be the opposite of what you mean. If you say 'yes', you mean 'no'. Opposite Day can be a very useful day for students to get out vocabulary notebooks and find the opposites, to different words. Students could focus on prefixes that are used to give a word an opposite meaning, for example, 'un' in 'unhelpful' and 'unnecessary', or 'il' in illegal' and 'illogical'.
Inspire Your Heart With Art Day
January the 31st is Inspire Your Heart With Art Day. On this day, you can create your very own work of art or go and visit art museums. People should take the time to find out art and make it a bigger part of their lives. Art can change our way of looking at the world. Unluckily, many of us stop being creative when we move from childhood to adulthood. There is so much art around us but many people take little notice of it. There is so much art in the places we work, live and play in that we don't even have to step into an art museum.
World Read Aloud Day
World Read Aloud Day is celebrated each year on the first Wednesday of March. Its aim is to encourage the almost 800 million people worldwide who cannot read to enjoy the benefits of a book. LitWorld says: Celebrate by reading aloud, giving away a book, or taking action in any way you can to Read.

①Facial recognition technology is widely used today. For example, police use it to search for bad guys. It's also used to unlock phones or doors. Now, a similar technology, known as facial detection(探测),is entering a new field: the business of advertising.
②Such systems are going through tests in a small number of stores. One facial detection system can judge a person's “happiness” or “fear” level. That helps businesses see how people feel as they look at products or advertisements in the store. Another system can detect whether someone is wearing eyeglasses. ④Supporters of the technology say it could improve buyers' experience by showing products they might like or by offering them products at lower prices.
⑤Some are against the idea of using such systems. Pam Dixon, the head of a privacy(隐 私) group, is one of them. She thinks__________. For example, a business could raise the price of a product according to a person's age and feelings.

A new study finds that more than eighty percent of Internet users in the United States search for health information online.
Susannah Fox from the Pew Internet Project says doctors are still the main source of health information. But the study found that searching online is one of the leading ways that people look for a second opinion. He says, “People are short of fact checking what they have heard from a doctor. Our studies show that people are still very likely to turn to a health doctor when they need a diagnosis(诊断) or are planning a treatment. ”
Forty-four percent of people are actually looking for doctors or other providers when they search for health information online. Two thirds of Internet users look online for information about a certain disease or medical condition.

Social networking is also changing the way some doctors and patients communicate with each other.

Less Pressure, Better Life
Hello, boys and girls!
Pressure is a serious problem in today’s world. Students in our class are under too much pressure. Some students can’t get on well with their classmates, while others may worry about their exams.
I’m always under pressure, too. My parents want me to be the top student in class. So they send me to all kinds of after-classes at weekends. Last Monday evening, I had a talk with my mother. I told her I was not lazy. I really felt tired. I needed time to relax. My mother agreed with me at last. So I think a conversation with parents is necessary to solve the problem.
For the coming new term, I suggest planning our life and study well by managing our time properly. It’s better to make a time table with detailed information, such as when to study, how long to play on the computer and how to relax ourselves. Only when we make full use of limited time, can we have a more meaningful life during the last period of junior school.
That’s all. Thank you!
